Ascot, Sunningdale and the Wentworth Estate
SL5 is a high-value area of large detached houses on generous plots, and glazing is often a significant part of the project — full-width sliding walls, corner-opening bifolds, tall slim-framed windows and orangery-style rooflights. The housing is a mix of interwar and post-war detached homes, mock-Tudor, and a high proportion of properties that have been substantially rebuilt or replaced with contemporary new homes.
The Wentworth Estate is a private estate with its own roads committee and restrictive covenants on the appearance of properties. External alterations there can need estate consent in addition to, or instead of, normal planning permission — we’re used to specifying to that kind of design control, and to the conservation-area rules in parts of Sunningdale and Sunninghill.
