Aluminium Windows in Sussex

Aluminium has become a popular choice for Sussex homeowners who want slim frames, strong colours and a lot of glass without the frame looking bulky. We supply and fit aluminium windows across the north of West Sussex, from Crawley and Horsham to Haywards Heath and East Grinstead, along with Horley just over the Surrey border. Every aluminium window we install is fabricated in our own workshop at Coningsby Farm in Fifield, near Windsor, and fitted by our own team.

Grey aluminium windows on a modern brick and render home – Inspired Glazing, aluminium windows in Sussex

Because we are based in Fifield, we travel to Sussex rather than working from a local branch. The drive is usually by the M25 and M23, around 40 to 50 miles depending on the town, so we plan each job carefully to make good use of every day on site.

The aluminium window systems we use

Reynaers SlimLine 68

Reynaers SlimLine 68, often shortened to SL68, is our core aluminium window range. It is designed around slim profiles, which is why many people choose it for both period homes and contemporary extensions. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner. For more detail on the range, see our Reynaers SL68 page.

Cortizo and Alunet

We also fabricate Cortizo and Alunet aluminium windows. These give us flexibility when a project calls for a different look, profile or budget. At the survey we will explain where each system fits, so you can compare them on your own openings rather than in a brochure.

Which Sussex homes suit aluminium windows

Victorian and Edwardian houses

Railway-era towns such as Haywards Heath and East Grinstead, and streets around Three Bridges and the Brighton Road in Crawley, have plenty of late nineteenth and early twentieth century homes. Their tall, narrow openings benefit from slim frames, and aluminium can be made with glazing bars where the elevation calls for them.

Post-war and New Town homes

Crawley’s New Town neighbourhoods, built from the late 1940s to the 1970s, often have simple, flat elevations. Aluminium in a dark grey or black can give these houses a crisp, updated look. If cost is the main driver, we also offer UPVC windows, and we are happy to price both.

Homes in and near the High Weald

Around East Grinstead, Ashurst Wood and Forest Row, homes sit in or next to the High Weald National Landscape. Appearance tends to matter more in a protected landscape. We can show you slim sightlines and traditional colours, but it is your local planning authority, such as Mid Sussex District Council or Wealden District Council, that decides what is acceptable. Please check with them before committing.

Extensions and garden rooms

Aluminium windows pair naturally with aluminium doors. Many of our Sussex customers combine SL68 windows with Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or bifold doors from Smart Visofold or Cortizo, so the frames, colours and finishes match across the back of the house.

Choosing styles, colours and glazing

Most of the decisions on an aluminium window project come down to how the window opens, how it looks from outside and how it feels to live with. At the survey we usually talk through:

We bring samples to the survey, so you can see colours in daylight against your own brickwork, tile hanging or render rather than on a screen.

Why we make our own frames

Fabricating in our Fifield workshop means the people who measure your openings work alongside the people who build the frames. If an opening in an older Sussex house is out of square, which is common, that detail goes straight to the bench rather than being lost in a hand-off to a third-party supplier. It also means that if you have a question after installation, you are talking to the business that made and fitted the window.

Conservation areas and listed buildings

Sussex towns have a lot of protected streets. Crawley Borough Council lists conservation areas including Ifield Village, Worth and the High Street. Mid Sussex District Council covers East Grinstead’s High Street conservation area and areas in Haywards Heath such as Muster Green and The Heath. Horsham District Council handles planning in Horsham. If your home is listed or in a conservation area, check with the relevant council before ordering. We will supply drawings and product information to support your enquiry.

Frequently asked questions

Which aluminium windows do you install in Sussex?

Our core range is Reynaers SlimLine 68, and we are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner. We also fabricate Cortizo and Alunet aluminium windows, which give us options for different looks and budgets. Every aluminium window is made in our Fifield workshop and fitted by our own team, so one business handles your project from survey to installation.

Are aluminium windows a good choice for a period home?

They can be. Aluminium frames can be very slim, which helps preserve the proportions of Victorian and Edwardian openings, and glazing bars are available where needed. If your home is listed or in a conservation area, check with your local council, such as Mid Sussex District Council or Crawley Borough Council, before ordering.

How much do aluminium windows cost in Sussex?

Prices depend on the number and size of windows, the system, opening styles, colours and glazing. As a guide, our aluminium windows start from £400. The most accurate way to know is a free survey, after which we send a clear written quotation with no obligation. Call 01753 965 005 to book.

Do you have a local base in Sussex?

No. We are based at Coningsby Farm in Fifield, near Windsor, where we fabricate our frames. We travel to Sussex for surveys and installations, usually via the M25 and M23. Depending on the town, the journey is around 40 to 50 miles, typically about an hour, and we plan each job to make the most of time on site.

Can aluminium windows match my new sliding or bifold doors?

Yes. Many customers pair Reynaers SlimLine 68 windows with Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors, or with bifold doors from Smart Visofold or Cortizo. We can coordinate colours and finishes across the windows and doors so the back of the house looks consistent. We will talk through the options at your free survey.
