Inspired Glazing fits double glazing in Ealing and across the rest of the borough, from Acton to Northolt: aluminium windows and doors, UPVC windows, composite doors, secondary glazing, conservatories and roof lanterns. Every aluminium frame is made in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and installed by our own team. Ealing is one of the closer London boroughs to us, roughly 19 miles by road and typically 35 to 45 minutes along the M4, but we have no local showroom, so our surveyors and fitters drive over from Fifield.

Living under the departure routes
Aircraft noise is a real factor in parts of this borough. Ealing Council’s own aircraft noise page says Heathrow departures cross the borough from south-west to north-east, over Norwood Green, Hanwell, central Ealing and north Acton. On a full easterly day around 160 departures pass over, and easterly operations happen on roughly a quarter of days in the year. The council has no power over aircraft noise, and runs a monitoring station in Hanwell directly under the route.
Good double glazing, well fitted with sealed gaps around the frame, is a practical step homeowners can take. For houses where the original windows must stay, secondary glazing on the inside adds a second barrier without altering the elevation. Our surveyor can talk through glass options for noise as part of the visit.
The Queen of the Suburbs: Ealing’s housing
Ealing was mostly farmland until the railway arrived; the first station opened in 1838, and through the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the area filled with largely semi-detached houses for a growing middle class. The streets around Mount Park Road are a prime example: ornate, many-roomed Victorian and Edwardian houses in large gardens. Pitshanger keeps a village feel, and next to it Brentham Garden Suburb, the pioneer co-partnership suburb, was built in the 1900s and 1910s. Around Hanger Lane there are interwar mock-Tudor garden estates, and Ealing Village is a Grade II listed group of 1930s apartment blocks. The borough’s seven towns are Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall, each with its own mix of terraces, semis and post-war homes.
Conservation areas and Article 4 in Ealing
Ealing has 30 conservation areas; Lammas Park became the 30th in November 2025. Six of them carry extra Article 4 controls: Bedford Park, Brentham Garden Estate, Churchfields (Half Acre Road), Ealing Town Centre (The Grove), Hanger Hill Garden Estate and Hanger Hill (Haymills) Estate. In most of these, the council says planning permission is needed for minor alterations, porches, exterior painting, boundary changes and hardstandings. Brentham’s direction, made in 1976, removed virtually all permitted development rights. If your house is in any conservation area, check with Ealing Council before changing windows or doors.
Choosing products for an Ealing home
Edwardian and Victorian semis
Where planning allows, slim aluminium windows such as the Reynaers SlimLine 68 outward-opening casement, or Cortizo and Alunet, suit larger period houses, and woodgrain finishes give a softer look. We do not make timber windows, so on tightly controlled estates such as Brentham we will tell you honestly whether our range is likely to fit the council’s expectations.
Interwar and post-war houses
Our UPVC windows on the Selecta Advance 70 system, together with composite doors, are a cost-effective upgrade for semis and terraces in Greenford, Northolt, Perivale and Southall.
Gardens and extensions
Larger gardens across the borough suit Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors, Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifolds, and conservatories and orangeries.

Frequently asked questions
Will new double glazing cut Heathrow noise in Hanwell or central Ealing?
Ealing Council confirms Heathrow departures pass over Norwood Green, Hanwell, central Ealing and north Acton, especially on easterly days. Well-fitted double glazing with properly sealed frames reduces noise inside, and the glass specification makes a difference. Secondary glazing adds another layer where originals stay. Our surveyor can explain the options for your rooms at a free visit.
Can I change windows on the Brentham Garden Estate?
Brentham has had an Article 4 direction since 1976 that removed virtually all permitted development rights, so almost any external alteration needs planning permission. Check with Ealing Council before planning new windows or doors. We do not make timber windows, so we will tell you honestly if our range is unlikely to suit what the council expects.
How many conservation areas are there in Ealing?
Ealing Council now has 30 conservation areas, after Lammas Park was designated in November 2025. Six carry additional Article 4 controls: Bedford Park, Brentham Garden Estate, Churchfields (Half Acre Road), Ealing Town Centre (The Grove), and the two Hanger Hill estates. If you are in any of them, speak to Ealing Council before ordering.
What suits a 1930s semi in Greenford or Perivale?
For interwar semis, UPVC windows on the Selecta Advance 70 system offer good value and low maintenance, and a composite front door adds security. If you want slimmer frames, aluminium casements are the step up, starting from £400 per window. Outside conservation areas, like-for-like replacement on a house is usually straightforward.
How quickly can you get to Ealing from Fifield?
Ealing is roughly 19 miles from our Fifield workshop by road, typically 35 to 45 minutes along the M4 depending on traffic. We have no office in Ealing; our own surveyors and fitters travel from Fifield. Once you approve a design, lead times start from 10 days.
