If you are choosing aluminium windows and doors in Henley-on-Thames, it helps to work with a team that makes and fits its own frames. Inspired Glazing fabricates and installs aluminium windows and doors in-house at our works on Coningsby Farm in Fifield, near Windsor, and we cover Henley (RG9) and the surrounding villages.

We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner and hold Constructionline Silver. Our range includes Reynaers SlimLine 68 windows, Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors, Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifold doors, Cortizo and Alunet windows, composite doors and UPVC. Below, we explain which products suit typical Henley homes, what to check in the town’s conservation areas, and what happens from survey to handover.
Henley homes and the aluminium windows that suit them
Henley packs a lot of architectural variety into a small riverside town. The right window depends on the age and style of your home.
Period townhouses and terraces in the town centre
The older streets near the town centre include Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian properties. These homes need slim frames that respect the original openings. Reynaers SlimLine 68 is an outward-opening aluminium window that Reynaers positions for renovation, “retaining the original daylight” while improving insulation and weather resistance. Its Ferro and Classic variants give you a choice of style.
Riverside homes and Thames-side properties
Riverside homes face more weather and often have the best views. Reynaers rates SlimLine 68 “Extreme” for air, water and wind tightness. On the garden or river side, a large aluminium sliding door keeps the view open even when the door is closed.
Edwardian villas, 1930s semis and family homes
Away from the centre, many family homes have a rear extension or plans for one. Here, aluminium windows at the front and bifold doors or sliding doors at the back is a popular combination. Cortizo and Alunet windows offer good value where the very slimmest sightlines are not essential.
Newer homes
On more recent homes, the usual project is replacing tired patio doors or windows. Aluminium sliders and bifolds are the common upgrade, and UPVC remains an option where budget is the priority.
| Henley home type | What usually matters | Products to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Georgian, Victorian or Edwardian townhouse | Slim frames, original proportions | Reynaers SlimLine 68 |
| Riverside home | Weather performance, views | SlimLine 68, Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliders |
| Family home with extension | Value, garden access | Cortizo or Alunet windows, Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifolds |
| Newer home | Replacing existing patio doors | ConceptPatio 130, bifolds, UPVC |
| Any home, front entrance | Security, kerb appeal | Composite doors |
Windows in Henley’s conservation areas
Henley has two conservation areas: Henley Main and St Marks Road. South Oxfordshire District Council revised their boundaries in 2022, adding the northern extent of The Fairmile and properties around Greys Road and Reading Road to the main area, and part of St Marks Road to the St Marks Road area.
Because boundaries change and rules can vary, check with South Oxfordshire District Council before you order. The Planning Portal explains that conservation areas may carry extra restrictions, that Article 4 Directions can remove permitted development rights, and that listed buildings need listed building consent for significant works.
Our tip: ask us for drawings and profile details first. Showing the council exactly how the new frames compare with the old ones makes the process quicker.
Aluminium doors for Henley extensions
For kitchens and extensions that open onto a garden or the river, there are two main routes.
- Sliding doors: Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 vents can reach 2,700 mm high and 2,700 mm wide, up to 300 kg each, according to Reynaers. Options include low and zero thresholds.
- Bifold doors: we fit Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifolds, not Reynaers bifolds. They fold back to open almost the full width of the opening.
- Front doors: composite doors are currently from £950 + VAT for the first 10 customers who order before 31 October 2026.
To compare the two bifold systems, read Smart Visofold vs Cortizo bifold doors.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need planning permission for new windows in Henley-on-Thames?
Often not, if the new windows look similar to the existing ones. Homes in Henley's conservation areas, listed buildings and properties under an Article 4 Direction may need consent. Check with South Oxfordshire District Council before ordering.
How many conservation areas does Henley have?
Henley has two conservation areas: Henley Main and St Marks Road. South Oxfordshire District Council revised both boundaries in 2022, so check the latest map if you are unsure whether your home is included.
Are aluminium windows suitable for period homes in Henley?
Yes, slim aluminium windows can work well on period homes. Reynaers SlimLine 68 is designed for renovation, with ultra-slim outward-opening sightlines and Ferro and Classic design variants. Confirm the design with the council if you are in a conservation area.
Do you fit Reynaers bifold doors in Henley?
No. Our bifold doors are Smart Visofold and Cortizo. From Reynaers, we install SlimLine 68 windows and ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors, which suit large openings where you want big panes of glass.
