For double glazing in Aylesbury, Inspired Glazing makes aluminium windows and doors in its own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and installs them with its own fitters. We also supply UPVC windows and doors, composite front doors and conservatories. We have no branch in the Vale: Aylesbury is roughly 32 miles from Fifield by road, typically around 50 minutes to an hour depending on whether we come through Wycombe or round by the M25, and our team makes that journey for every survey and installation.

A county town with three housing stories
Aylesbury has been Buckinghamshire’s county town since 1529, but much of what you see today is far newer. Large parts of the centre were cleared in the 1950s and 1960s for shopping development, taking many 16th to 18th-century houses with them. What survives clusters around St Mary’s Church, one of the most sought-after corners of the town along with Bedgrove and Queens Park.
The second story is London overspill. Estates built to ease pressure on the capital helped the population climb from about 28,000 in the 1960s to almost 72,000 by 2011. The third is still being written: Fairford Leys, Berryfields on the north-west edge by Aylesbury Vale Parkway station, Kingsbrook and other new neighbourhoods, with a housing target of 16,000 homes by 2033.
Each brings a different job. Older houses near the church need careful detailing and a word with the council, overspill-era semis and terraces are usually a case of choosing the right replacement frame, and on the newest homes the conversation tends to be about rear doors or an extension.
What we would suggest, house by house
Period properties in the old town
Our lead aluminium window is the Reynaers SlimLine 68, an outward-opening casement with narrow frames that suits smaller historic openings. Cortizo and Alunet aluminium windows broaden the choice. We do not make timber windows, so if a listed building needs like-for-like timber we will say so at survey. Read more on our aluminium windows and doors page.
Post-war estates
UPVC windows and doors in the Selecta Advance 70 system are a sensible like-for-like choice, with woodgrain finishes if you want a softer look, and a composite door lifts the front of the house.
New-build gardens
Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifold doors can replace a standard builder’s patio door, and we design conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns too. We also offer porches, secondary glazing, garage doors, fascias, soffits, guttering, blinds and shutters.
Aylesbury’s conservation area was redrawn in 2026
Planning in Aylesbury sits with Buckinghamshire Council, the unitary authority that replaced Aylesbury Vale District Council in April 2020. In July 2026 the council adopted a new Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan, the first update since 2004. The boundary now takes in nine extra areas, including the canal basin, the Waterside Theatre, High Bridge Walk, Albion Street and Coronation Villas, while two locations on the eastern side of the centre were removed.
If your home is on one of those streets, the rules may have changed recently, so check with Buckinghamshire Council before you commit. Flats have no householder permitted development rights, so a flat owner may need planning consent and freeholder approval. Our planning permission guide covers the general questions.
Ground conditions worth mentioning
The town sits partly on Portland stone outcrops, but the lower fields and suburbs lie on slowly permeable Oxford Clay and Kimmeridge Clay. Clay can move with the seasons, so on a conservatory or large door opening we check the existing structure and opening carefully at survey before recommending a design.
Villages and neighbourhoods we cover
From the town we work out to Bierton, Stoke Mandeville, Weston Turville and Aston Clinton, and south to Wendover, the gateway town for the Chilterns National Landscape. In town we regularly cover Fairford Leys, Berryfields, Bedgrove and Queens Park. Nearby pages include double glazing in High Wycombe, Leighton Buzzard and Buckingham.

Frequently asked questions
Has the Aylesbury conservation area changed?
Yes. In July 2026 Buckinghamshire Council adopted a new appraisal and management plan for Aylesbury, the first since 2004. Nine areas were added, including the canal basin, Albion Street and Coronation Villas, and two locations on the eastern side of the centre were removed. If you live near the old town, check with Buckinghamshire Council before changing windows.
Do you have a showroom in Aylesbury?
No. Our only premises are at Coningsby Farm in Fifield, near Windsor, where we fabricate aluminium frames. Aylesbury is roughly 32 miles away, usually around 50 minutes to an hour by road. Our surveyor brings frame samples, colour swatches and hardware to your home, and the same team travels up from Fifield to fit.
Can you replace the patio door on a new-build home in Berryfields or Kingsbrook?
Yes. Standard developer patio doors can often be swapped for Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifolds. On a newer home, check your title deeds and any estate covenants first, and if the house is leasehold or a flat, you may need consent. We measure the opening and structure at survey.
How long does it take to get new windows fitted in Aylesbury?
After the survey and your order, our lead times for aluminium windows start from 10 days, as the frames are made in our own Fifield workshop. Because Aylesbury is around an hour away, we agree installation dates with you in advance, and our own fitters, rather than subcontractors, carry out the work and clear away the old frames.
Do you fit conservatories on clay soil around Aylesbury?
Yes. Parts of the town and its suburbs sit on Oxford Clay and Kimmeridge Clay, which can shrink and swell. At survey we look at the ground, the existing house and the proposed footprint before recommending a conservatory, orangery or roof lantern. If structural or planning questions come up, we will tell you before you commit.
