Camberley is roughly ten miles south-west of our workshop at Coningsby Farm in Fifield, near Windsor, measured in a straight line. In practice that is a short drive down the M4 and through Bracknell Forest, so it is one of the Surrey towns our team reaches most easily. We make our aluminium windows and doors ourselves in Fifield and fit them with our own installers, and we travel out to you for every survey and every fitting day.

A town built around the military colleges
Camberley is younger than most Surrey towns. Before the nineteenth century this was open, sandy heath. Building took off after the Royal Military College opened at Sandhurst in 1812, first at Yorktown and then around the Staff College, which followed in 1862. Large plots were sold from about 1860, and the railway arrived in the 1870s, after which streets such as Park Road, Church Hill and the Crawley Hill roads filled with substantial villas.
The result is a mixed housing stock. You will find Victorian and Edwardian detached and semi-detached villas near the town centre, the 1950s Old Dean estate, large detached family homes across Heatherside and St Paul’s, and newer flats such as those at The Atrium. Each of those needs a slightly different approach to windows and doors.
Conservation areas and planning in Surrey Heath
Planning in Camberley is currently handled by Surrey Heath Borough Council, which has nine conservation areas. Two are in Camberley itself: Upper Gordon Road to Church Hill, and the former Royal Military Academy Staff College on London Road. The others include Bagshot Village, Bagshot Church Road, Bagshot Park, Windlesham (Updown Hill and Church Road), Chobham Village and the Basingstoke Canal.
The council’s appraisal of the Upper Gordon Road area describes red-brick villas from the 1860s to 1906 with timber sashes, casements with small square-pane top lights, and decorative leaded lights. If your home is in or beside a conservation area, or is a listed or locally listed building, check with Surrey Heath Borough Council before choosing a frame style, colour or glazing pattern. Permitted development rights are tighter in conservation areas.
Surrey’s borough councils are being replaced. From 1 April 2027, Surrey Heath becomes part of the new West Surrey unitary council, so if your project runs past that date, check which authority is handling planning when you apply. We are happy to provide product drawings and specifications for any application.

Matching the product to the house
Victorian and Edwardian villas. Where original sashes or leaded casements are part of the look, we will talk through what is realistic. A slim aluminium window such as the Reynaers SlimLine 68, with glazing bars where they suit, keeps sightlines fine. Reynaers lists SL68 with a 38 mm minimum frame width for outward-opening units and PAS 24 and Secured by Design ratings on its SlimLine 68 product page. In a conservation area, timber may still be what the planners expect, and we will say so.
Heatherside and St Paul’s family homes. Larger detached houses often have rear extensions or room to add one. Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors suit wide openings onto a garden, while bifold doors from Smart Visofold or Cortizo work well when you want the whole width to fold back in summer.
Old Dean semis and flats. For value-led replacements, UPVC windows and doors (Advance 70) are often the sensible choice. A composite front door is a popular upgrade at the same time.

How a survey and installation works in Camberley
A surveyor drives over from Fifield, measures every opening and looks at the brickwork, sills and lintels. We also ask how each room is used, because a bedroom facing the A30 needs different glass from a garden room. You then receive a written quotation naming the system, glass and finish, with prices from £400.
Aluminium frames are made to order in our Fifield workshop, with a current lead time starting from 10 days. On fitting day our own team arrives from Fifield, takes out the old frames, installs and seals the new ones, and takes the waste away. Every installation comes with a 10-year guarantee.

Frequently asked questions
How far do you travel to reach Camberley?
Camberley is about ten miles from our Fifield workshop near Windsor in a straight line, a little further by road via the M4 and Bracknell. Our surveyors and installers travel from Fifield for every visit. We do not have a Camberley office, but the town is well within the area we cover regularly, as are Frimley, Bagshot and Lightwater.
Do I need permission to replace windows in a Camberley conservation area?
It depends on the property and what you change. Surrey Heath has conservation areas at Upper Gordon Road to Church Hill and the former Staff College, and permitted development rights are tighter there. Check with Surrey Heath Borough Council, or the West Surrey council from 1 April 2027, before ordering. We can supply drawings and product details.
Are aluminium windows suitable for a Victorian villa in Camberley?
Often, yes. Slim systems such as Reynaers SlimLine 68 can carry glazing bars and come in many colours, which helps on period homes. Where original timber sashes define the character, or the house is in a conservation area, timber may be preferred by planners. We will tell you honestly at survey which approach fits best.
Should I choose sliding or bifold doors for my extension?
Sliding doors such as Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 give large glass panes and slim sightlines, ideal for a view all year. Bifold doors from Smart Visofold or Cortizo fold almost the full width open, which suits summer entertaining. The right answer depends on the opening width, how you use the garden and the look you prefer.
Do you fit UPVC windows in Camberley as well as aluminium?
Yes. We supply and fit UPVC windows and doors as well as aluminium, plus composite front doors. UPVC is often the practical choice for rental properties, flats or budget-led projects, such as many homes in Old Dean. We will explain the trade-offs at survey so you can choose with clear information about cost and appearance.
