UPVC windows remain the most common replacement choice in many Sussex towns, and for good reason: they are practical, low-maintenance and usually more affordable than aluminium. We supply and fit UPVC windows using Advance 70 across the north of West Sussex, including Crawley, Horsham, Haywards Heath and East Grinstead, and in Horley on the Surrey side of Gatwick.

We are Inspired Glazing, based at Coningsby Farm in Fifield, near Windsor. We do not have a Sussex office, so our team drives down for each survey and installation, usually by the M25 and M23. Most of the towns we cover are around 40 to 50 miles away, which typically means about an hour on the road. We also fabricate aluminium windows in our own workshop, which means we can give you a genuine comparison between the two materials rather than a one-sided sales pitch.
Where UPVC works well in Sussex
Crawley’s New Town neighbourhoods
Crawley grew rapidly after it was designated a New Town in 1947, with neighbourhoods such as West Green, Southgate, Gossops Green, Pound Hill and Furnace Green built from the late 1940s through to the 1970s. Many of these houses have straightforward window layouts, and plenty are on their second or third set of replacements. UPVC is often a sensible, cost-effective option here.
Later estates across the county
Every town we cover has grown since the 1970s, from estates on the edges of Horsham and Haywards Heath to newer developments such as Westvale Park in Horley. On houses built in this period, UPVC frames usually sit naturally with the existing style.
Rental and budget-led projects
If you are a landlord, or simply want to replace a whole house of windows on a fixed budget, UPVC lets more of that budget go further. Prices start from £400, and we will itemise every window in your quotation.
When aluminium may suit better
We would rather be upfront: UPVC is not the right answer for every Sussex home. On Victorian and Edwardian houses, such as those near Three Bridges in Crawley or around the centres of Haywards Heath and East Grinstead, slimmer aluminium windows often keep the original proportions better. Our core aluminium range is Reynaers SlimLine 68, and we also fabricate Cortizo and Alunet. Where homeowners want very large panes or a dark, slim-framed look, aluminium tends to be the stronger option. At the survey, we will tell you honestly which we think fits your house.
Conservation areas, listed buildings and the High Weald
Before choosing UPVC on an older or protected property, check with your council. Crawley Borough Council has a list of conservation areas including Ifield Village, Worth and Hazelwick Road. Mid Sussex District Council covers conservation areas in East Grinstead and Haywards Heath. Horsham District Council handles Horsham, and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council covers Horley. Homes in or beside the High Weald National Landscape, around East Grinstead, Ashurst Wood and Forest Row, may also face closer attention to appearance. We will not guess what is permitted, but we will gladly provide product information for your enquiry.
Choosing your UPVC windows
A good UPVC window is about more than the frame. At the survey we look at each room and talk through the details that make a difference day to day:
- Opening style. Casements are the most common choice on Sussex semis and terraces, but we can mix opening and fixed panes so each window suits its room.
- Colour and finish. White remains popular, and we can show you the other colours and finishes available with Advance 70.
- Fire escape and ventilation. Upstairs, particularly in bedrooms, we will check how each window opens so it works for you and your family.
- Glass. Obscure glass for bathrooms and front-facing rooms is a common request, and we will note it on the survey.
What happens on fitting day
Because our team travels from Fifield, we aim to arrive early and work steadily through the house. We protect floors and furniture near each opening, remove the old window, check and prepare the opening, then fit, fix and seal the new frame before moving on. Where we can, we replace one window at a time so the house is never left open for long. Before we leave we clean up, show you how the handles and locks work, and walk round each window with you. If anything needs attention, you speak directly to us rather than a third party.
UPVC doors and composite doors
Alongside UPVC windows, we fit UPVC doors and composite front doors. For the back of the house, many customers compare UPVC doors with aluminium options such as Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or bifold doors from Smart Visofold or Cortizo. We can price the combinations side by side.

Frequently asked questions
Which UPVC window system do you use?
We install UPVC windows using Advance 70. At your free survey we can show you the profile, colour options and opening styles, and explain how it compares with our aluminium windows. That way you can choose the right material for your home and budget rather than being steered towards one option.
Is UPVC or aluminium better for my Sussex home?
It depends on the house. UPVC is usually more affordable and suits many post-war and newer homes, such as Crawley’s New Town neighbourhoods. Aluminium offers slimmer frames and larger panes, which can suit Victorian houses and modern extensions. We fit both, so at the survey we will explain the trade-offs for your property.
Can I fit UPVC windows in a conservation area?
It depends on the property and the area. Planning controls are tighter in conservation areas, and listed buildings need their own consent. Check with your council, such as Crawley Borough Council, Mid Sussex District Council or Horsham District Council, before ordering. We can provide product details to help with your enquiry.
How much do UPVC windows cost in Sussex?
The cost depends on how many windows you need, their sizes, styles, colours and glazing. Our UPVC windows start from £400. For an accurate figure, book a free survey and we will send a written quotation listing each window and its price. There is no obligation, and you can call 01753 965 005 to arrange it.
Do you travel from Windsor to fit windows in Sussex?
Yes. We are based in Fifield, near Windsor, and do not have a Sussex office. Our team usually drives via the M25 and M23. Crawley and Horley are around 40 miles away, and East Grinstead, Horsham and Haywards Heath a little further, typically about an hour. We plan fitting days so the crew arrives early.
