Inspired Glazing installs aluminium sliding doors in Hadley Wood, and for most large openings we recommend the Reynaers ConceptPatio 130. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner, all fabrication takes place in our workshop at Fifield near Windsor, and our own installers come from Fifield to survey and fit, normally a drive of under an hour by the M25.

Framing woodland and Green Belt views
Hadley Wood sits within Green Belt farmland and mature woodland, and many of its detached houses have long rear gardens running towards trees. That setting makes sliding doors a natural fit. Wide panes with slim meeting sections keep the view open all year, whereas a folding door adds a frame every metre or so when closed.
Large modern rear extensions here often span much of the width of the house. A sliding door can fill that space with just two, three or four big panels, giving a cleaner, more architectural elevation.
Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 specifications
- Vents up to 2.7 metres wide and 2.7 metres tall, at a maximum of 300kg each.
- A lift-and-slide variant designed for improved performance and heavier vents.
- Two-rail and three-rail versions, where the three-rail layout stacks panels behind one another to open a wider section.
- A 90 degree open corner option for extensions that wrap round the garden.
- Low or zero thresholds, PAS 24 and RC2 security, and a Uw of 1.4 W/m²K.
These figures come from Reynaers, and we confirm what your opening can take at survey. You can learn more on our ConceptPatio and Reynaers sliding doors page, and see how matching glazing works on our Reynaers windows and sliding doors overview. For exceptional sizes we can also make Cortizo sliders; Cortizo lists its 4600 Lift and Slide HI with sashes up to 3300mm square and 400kg, and a Uw from 0.9 W/m²K. More detail sits on our Cortizo systems page.
Enfield Council and the conservation area
Hadley Wood is a conservation area designated by the London Borough of Enfield, with an Article 4 Direction dating from 2006. Some external changes that are normally permitted development may therefore need consent. Check with Enfield Council early, especially if the work involves a new extension or a widened opening. You can find general background in our guide to planning permission for new doors and windows. If you live in an apartment or on a private road, check any management company or estate covenants as well.
Coordinating with a new extension
Many sliding doors in Hadley Wood go into new or rebuilt extensions rather than existing openings. In that case the best results come from involving us before the steelwork and floor levels are fixed. A zero threshold, for example, needs a recess in the slab and a drainage channel outside, and a concealed outer frame needs space in the floor build-up. We can supply system sections and fixing details to your architect and engineer, then measure the finished opening before fabrication so the doors fit precisely.
Daily use matters too. Lift-and-slide hardware lets a heavy vent glide with modest effort, and softclose is available on some configurations to stop a panel arriving hard against the frame.
Our process for Hadley Wood homes
We begin with a free survey, measuring the opening, checking the steelwork and levels, and looking at delivery access. Detached houses usually offer driveway space, which helps when heavy glass arrives. Drawings follow for your approval, and lead times start from 10 days once they are signed off. Our own team installs, glazes and adjusts the doors, and the completed work carries a 10-year guarantee.
For builders and architects, our Constructionline Silver status provides a recognised pre-qualification standard for working on site.
Thinking about folding doors instead?
If you entertain outdoors often and want the full width open, a folding door may suit the room better. See our page on bifold doors in Hadley Wood, or read the guide comparing sliding and bifold doors.
We also fit sliding doors in Brookmans Park, Hampstead Garden Suburb and Highgate.

Frequently asked questions
How many panels should a large sliding door have?
With ConceptPatio 130 vents up to 2.7 metres wide, many Hadley Wood extensions need only two to four panels. Fewer panels mean fewer frames in the view, but each one is heavier. We balance panel size against the structure, access for delivery and how often you will open the doors.
Do I need planning permission for sliding doors in Hadley Wood?
Possibly. Hadley Wood is a conservation area with an Article 4 Direction from 2006, which can bring some alterations under planning control. Replacing an existing rear door like for like is often simpler than forming a new opening. Check with Enfield Council before you order, and we can supply drawings if an application is needed.
Can sliding doors meet in a corner without a post?
Yes. ConceptPatio 130 has an open corner variant where the vents slide away at a 90 degree angle, leaving the corner of the room clear. This depends on the structure above being designed to carry the load without a corner post, so your engineer needs to be involved early.
Are your sliding doors energy efficient?
Reynaers quotes a Uw of 1.4 W/m²K for ConceptPatio 130, with air tightness Class 4. Cortizo lists its 4600 Lift and Slide HI from 0.9 W/m²K, depending on size and glass. Actual figures vary with the configuration, so ask us to confirm the value for your opening.
Who fits the doors, and where do you come from?
Our own team does every survey and installation; we do not subcontract. We travel from our only premises, the workshop at Coningsby Farm in Fifield near Windsor, which is under an hour from Hadley Wood by road in normal traffic.
