Woking sits about twelve miles south-east of our Fifield workshop as the crow flies, which makes it one of the easiest Surrey towns for our team to reach. We survey, make the aluminium frames ourselves and come back with our own fitters, so the people you meet at the start are the people who finish the job.

Woking’s homes, from railway villas to Arts and Crafts
Much of Woking grew up after the railway arrived, and you can still read that history street by street. Around St Johns and the Wheatsheaf area there are mid-to-late Victorian terraces, cottages and villas, often in local red brick with buff detailing. Hook Heath and the Hockering Estate are known for larger, individually designed Edwardian and inter-war houses, several in the Arts and Crafts style, set in generous plots. Then there are the later suburbs and new-build flats near the town centre, which bring their own, simpler requirements.
For our team, that means no two Woking surveys look alike. A Victorian bay with original sashes needs a different conversation from a 1920s house with leaded casements or a modern flat with standard openings.
Conservation areas in Woking
Woking Borough Council looks after more than twenty conservation areas. They include Horsell, Horsell Birch, Lower Knaphill, Byfleet Village, Pyrford, Aviary Road in Pyrford, Old Woking, St Johns, Mount Hermon, Old Avenue and Birchwood Road in West Byfleet, and Woking Town Centre. In 2026 the council consulted on new draft appraisals for Woking town centre, Byfleet Corner/Rosemount Parade and Station Approach in West Byfleet, and Aviary Road.
If your home is in or next to one of these areas, please check with Woking Borough Council before choosing a new frame style or colour. From 1 April 2027 planning in Woking passes to the new West Surrey council, so check with whichever authority is responsible on the date you apply. We are happy to supply drawings and product information to support any application.
Villages we cover around Woking
- Byfleet and West Byfleet: a blend of older village houses, Edwardian cottage terraces and low-density inter-war homes.
- Pyrford: a historic village core with early farmhouses, plus the planned Edwardian estate around Aviary Road.
- Knaphill: older cottages in Lower Knaphill and plenty of twentieth-century family homes beyond.
- Horsell: substantial late Victorian and Edwardian houses, Garden City-style cottages on Holyoake Crescent, and later infill.
We also regularly travel to St Johns, Old Woking, Mayford, Sheerwater and Brookwood.
Which products suit which Woking homes
Victorian and Edwardian houses. Slim aluminium frames such as the Reynaers SlimLine 68 can keep a fine look with glazing bars, while improving draught-proofing and security. Where sliding sashes are part of the character, we will talk honestly about what aluminium can and cannot replicate, and whether a UPVC sash-style option might be closer to what you need.
Arts and Crafts and inter-war homes. These often have multi-pane casements. A slim aluminium casement in a sympathetic colour usually suits them better than a chunky frame.
Extensions and garden rooms. Woking’s larger plots make rear extensions popular. Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or bifold doors from Smart Visofold or Cortizo open the house to the garden.
Rental flats and rear elevations. Where budget matters most, UPVC is often the practical choice.

What a Woking survey and fit involves
We start with a visit to measure every opening, check the condition of the brickwork and lintels, and ask how you use each room. You then get a written quotation naming the system, glass and finish; prices start from £400. Aluminium frames are built in our Fifield workshop, with a current lead time starting from 10 days. On fitting days our team drives over from Fifield, removes the old frames, installs and seals the new ones, and clears the waste. Our guarantee lasts 10 years.

Frequently asked questions
Do you install windows in Woking conservation areas?
Yes, but the decision on what is acceptable rests with the council, not us. Woking has more than twenty conservation areas, including Horsell, Pyrford, Byfleet Village and Old Woking. Check with Woking Borough Council, or the West Surrey council from April 2027, before ordering. We can provide drawings and product details to support an application.
How far do you travel to reach Woking?
Woking is about twelve miles from our workshop in Fifield, near Windsor, as the crow flies, and a little further by road. We do not have a Woking office. Our surveyor visits your home, and our own installation team travels over from Fifield on fitting days, so there are no subcontractors involved.
Can aluminium windows suit a Victorian house in Woking?
Often, yes. Slim systems such as the Reynaers SlimLine 68 can carry glazing bars and come in colours that sit comfortably on red-brick Victorian houses. Where traditional sliding sashes are part of the character, we will explain the limitations honestly and may suggest checking with the council or considering a sash-style alternative.
Do you cover Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford?
Yes. We regularly work in Byfleet, West Byfleet, Pyrford, Knaphill and Horsell, as well as St Johns, Old Woking, Mayford, Sheerwater and Brookwood. Several of these have their own conservation areas, so we will raise any planning questions at survey stage and point you to the council for a firm answer.
What does a new window or door cost in Woking?
Prices start from £400, but the real figure depends on the number and size of openings, the system, glass and colour you choose, and any building work needed. We do not quote from a brochure. After a free survey you get a written, itemised quotation so you can compare options properly.
