Inspired Glazing supplies and fits double glazing in Fleet: aluminium windows and doors that we make in our own Fifield workshop, plus UPVC windows, composite doors, bifolds, sliding doors and conservatories. Fleet is about 22 miles from us by road, normally around 40 minutes, and our own team travels over from Fifield for each survey and installation. We do not have a Fleet showroom, and we will not pretend otherwise.

A railway town on the heath
Before the London and South Western Railway arrived in 1840, Fleet was mostly heathland. The station brought settlers, notably retired army officers who built in what became known as the Blue Triangle, and land to the south-east was laid out on a grid from 1882. The High Street still has plenty of Victorian and Edwardian frontages. Later decades added the 1920s and 1930s expansion into Elvetham and Crookham, then Ancells Farm and Zebon Copse, and finally Elvetham Heath, completed in 2008. Crookham Park now occupies the former Queen Elizabeth Barracks.
Two local features are worth bearing in mind. The M3 forms the northern edge of the town, with junction 4A and Fleet Services close by, so homes on the northern side may want to talk about noise as well as warmth. And Fleet Pond, the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, sits beside the station. If your garden backs onto the pond or its woodland, we will check levels and drainage carefully before recommending a threshold for new sliding or bifold doors.
So a Fleet window survey can mean almost anything: an Arts and Crafts villa, a 1930s cottage-style house, a 1980s estate home, or a nearly new Elvetham Heath house where the developer’s frames are already showing their age.
North Fleet and other conservation areas
Hart District Council handles planning in Fleet. The North Fleet Conservation Area, designated in 1994, covers the leafy streets north of the centre, including Fitzroy Road, Victoria Road, Church Road, Elvetham Road, Avenue Road and Pines Road. Hart’s appraisal describes mostly detached two-storey houses built between about 1890 and 1922 in large, tree-screened plots, with red brick, render or pebbledash and sash or casement windows. The Basingstoke Canal Conservation Area runs through the south of the town, and Crookham Village, Dogmersfield and Crondall have their own.
In those areas the pattern and proportion of windows count for a lot, so check with Hart District Council before replacing them, and especially if the house is listed or you live in a flat, which has no householder permitted development rights. Our replacement windows planning guide explains the basics.
Matching the window to the house
North Fleet villas. Where a sash look is not required, the Reynaers SlimLine 68 is our first suggestion. It is an outward-opening casement with a slim profile, and we can talk through glazing bar options at survey. It is our core aluminium window, built in Fifield, with Cortizo and Alunet as alternatives. We do not make timber windows, so if a timber-look finish is wanted, woodgrain UPVC or a painted aluminium colour are the options.
Estate houses and newer builds. UPVC windows and doors using the Selecta Advance 70 system give a tidy, affordable upgrade on 1970s to 2000s houses.
Front doors. A composite door suits most Fleet houses, from a Victorian house near the High Street to a new build.
Gardens. Plots here are often generous. Aluminium bifold doors (Smart Visofold or Cortizo) or Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors make the most of them, and a conservatory or orangery with a roof lantern can add a room.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a showroom in Fleet?
No. Our only premises are the workshop and office at Coningsby Farm, Fifield, near Windsor. Fleet is about 22 miles away by road, normally around 40 minutes, so our surveyors and fitters travel from Fifield. We bring samples to the survey, and you are welcome to visit Fifield by arrangement if you would like to see the workshop.
Can I replace windows in the North Fleet Conservation Area?
Often yes, but conservation area status can bring extra controls, particularly on front elevations, listed buildings and flats. Hart District Council is the planning authority, and their North Fleet appraisal stresses the importance of original window patterns. Check with Hart before ordering. We can provide specifications and drawings to support any enquiry or application you need to make.
Which windows suit an Edwardian house in Fleet?
For houses from around 1890 to 1922, we usually suggest the Reynaers SlimLine 68 aluminium casement, which keeps sightlines slim and suits the proportions of older openings. It is made in our own workshop. If the house originally had sashes and the council wants that look kept, discuss it with Hart first, as we do not make timber sash windows.
My Elvetham Heath house is under 20 years old. Is it worth replacing the windows?
It depends on their condition. If units have misted, handles have failed or draughts have crept in, replacing them can be worthwhile, and sometimes only doors need changing. We will tell you honestly at the free survey whether full replacement makes sense, and our cost guide gives a sense of budget before you decide.
How long does fitting take for a typical Fleet house?
It depends on the number of openings, access and what we find when the old frames come out, so we give you a fitting timetable with your quote. Bifold doors and conservatories take longer than windows. Lead times for aluminium windows made in our Fifield workshop start from 10 days after you order.
