Inspired Glazing provides double glazing in Cheltenham using aluminium windows and doors we fabricate in our own Fifield workshop near Windsor, plus UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories, all installed by our own fitters. The drive from Fifield is roughly 85 miles, typically around an hour and forty minutes, so we book Cheltenham surveys and installations ahead of time and plan each day around the journey. We do not have an office in Gloucestershire.

Cheltenham’s housing: Regency first, but not only Regency
Cheltenham is often described as the most complete Regency town in England, and the stucco terraces, villas and crescents of Montpellier, Lansdown and Pittville are the image most people have of it. Pittville was laid out as a planned extension to the north around the Pump Room, finished in 1830. Yet the town is much broader than that. Charlton Kings, Leckhampton, Prestbury and Up Hatherley each have their own mix of older cottages, Victorian and Edwardian houses and later estates, and the wider town takes in districts such as Hesters Way, St Mark’s and Benhall.
The setting matters too. The town lies just inside the edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape, with Cleeve Hill, the highest point in Gloucestershire, looking down on it. The small River Chelt runs under and through the centre.
Conservation areas: check before you order
Cheltenham Borough Council handles planning. Its Central Conservation Area is unusually large and is split into 19 character areas, among them Bath Road, Bayshill, College, Lansdown, Montpellier, Old Town, Pittville, St Luke’s, St Paul’s, Suffolk Square, The Park and Tivoli. Six further conservation areas cover Prestbury, Swindon Village, Cudnall Street, Bafford and St Mary’s in Charlton Kings, and the Poets area in St Mark’s. The council notes that windows and doors can, in some circumstances, need planning permission in a conservation area, and listed buildings need listed building consent. Check with Cheltenham Borough Council before committing. Flats have no householder permitted development rights, and the freeholder’s consent is usually needed too. See our guide to planning permission for replacement windows.
Matching products to Cheltenham homes
Victorian, Edwardian and interwar houses outside the strictest controls often suit our aluminium windows. The Reynaers SlimLine 68 is an outward-opening casement with slim profiles; Cortizo and Alunet give other looks and budgets.
Post-war and modern homes across the town are well served by UPVC windows and doors in the Selecta Advance 70 system, with a composite front door.
Rear extensions and garden rooms can take Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifolds, and we design conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns.
Listed Regency interiors may be better served by secondary glazing, which leaves the original sashes in place. We do not make timber windows; woodgrain-finish UPVC or aluminium is our timber-look option where it is acceptable.
Covering Cheltenham and its edges
We work throughout the town and in Charlton Kings, Leckhampton, Prestbury, Up Hatherley, Swindon Village and Bishop’s Cleeve. For neighbouring towns see double glazing in Gloucester, Tewkesbury and Cirencester.
Worth sorting out before we visit
A little preparation makes a Cheltenham survey far more useful. Look up whether your address falls inside one of the conservation areas, and whether the house or flat is listed. If you own a flat, find out what your lease says about windows and who the freeholder or managing agent is. Photographs of any original windows, and of neighbouring houses that have already changed theirs, help us judge what the council is likely to accept. With that in hand we can quote for the right product first time.
The process, start to finish
- A free survey at home, where we measure, photograph the elevations and talk through options with samples.
- A written quote. Aluminium windows start from £400; our double glazing cost guide explains the rest.
- Fabrication in Fifield, with aluminium lead times from 10 days.
- Installation by our own team on a pre-booked date, with old frames taken away.
Every installation carries a 10-year guarantee. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner and hold Constructionline Silver.

Frequently asked questions
Is my Cheltenham house in a conservation area?
Quite possibly. Cheltenham's Central Conservation Area covers 19 character areas, including Montpellier, Lansdown, Pittville and the Old Town, and there are six more in places such as Prestbury and Charlton Kings. Cheltenham Borough Council's maps will confirm your address. Check with the council before ordering replacement windows or doors.
Can I replace windows in a Regency flat in Cheltenham?
Flats have no householder permitted development rights, so replacement windows may need planning permission, and listed buildings need listed building consent. Most leases also require the freeholder's agreement. Check with Cheltenham Borough Council and your freeholder first. Secondary glazing is often a practical option for listed flats.
How far are you from Cheltenham?
Our workshop is at Fifield, near Windsor, roughly 85 miles from Cheltenham by road, usually about an hour and forty minutes. We have no local branch, so we plan survey and fitting dates in advance. Your windows are measured, made and fitted by the same company, with no subcontracted installers.
Do you make sash windows for Cheltenham houses?
We do not make timber sash windows. Our aluminium range is led by the Reynaers SlimLine 68 outward-opening casement, and we also offer UPVC windows. For listed or sensitive Regency buildings where originals must stay, we can quote for secondary glazing instead, subject to the council's view.
What does double glazing cost in Cheltenham?
Our aluminium windows start from £400 each, with the total depending on sizes, styles, glazing and colours. UPVC is typically the more economical option for modern houses. Every quote is written after a free survey, and travel from Fifield is included. Our cost guide explains what affects a whole-house price.
