Inspired Glazing provides double glazing in Hounslow and across the borough, including Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, Feltham and Heston. We make aluminium windows and doors in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and fit them with our own team, alongside UPVC windows, composite doors, secondary glazing and conservatories. Hounslow is close to home for us: roughly 17 miles from Fifield along the M4, usually around 30 to 40 minutes’ drive, so survey dates are easy to find.

Homes under the flight path
Heathrow lies just beyond the borough’s western edge, and aircraft noise is a real consideration when choosing windows here. Heathrow runs its own Quieter Neighbourhood Support scheme for homes in targeted areas near the airport. It can fund replacement windows or secondary glazing, external doors, ventilation and loft insulation, typically up to 100% on a like-for-like basis, after an individual assessment. Conservatories are not covered. Before you pay for new glazing, use the postcode checker on Heathrow’s website to see if your home is eligible. If it is not, we can talk through glass options for noise at survey, and explain where secondary glazing on top of existing windows may help in bedrooms facing the flight path.
From riverside cottages to 1930s suburbs
The borough’s housing tells the story of west London’s growth. On the Thames at Chiswick, Strand on the Green has fishermen’s cottages, pubs and larger houses; Ship Cottage dates from 1694 and Zoffany House from about 1704. Behind them are late Victorian workers’ terraces between Thames Road and the railway, and the Riverview Estate of 1904 with porches, box bays and red hanging tiles. The area is low-lying and floods at spring tides, though property flooding is now rare.
Further west, the Hounslow Loop Line of 1850 prompted new building around Hounslow town, and the Great West Road, built in the 1920s, brought factories and a great deal of new housing. In Feltham, market gardens gave way to light industry, gravel workings and houses from the 1930s onwards, while Victorian and Edwardian homes survive along Hanworth Road and at Feltham Pond.
Hounslow Council’s conservation areas
Hounslow Council has 29 conservation areas. Two of them, Gunnersbury and Bedford Park, have Article 4 directions that restrict work normally allowed under permitted development. Bedford Park straddles the boundary with Ealing.
The council’s appraisal for Strand on the Green encourages owners to keep and restore historic windows and doors and does not recommend UPVC there. If you live in a conservation area, a listed building or a flat, which has no householder permitted development rights, check with Hounslow Council before ordering. Our planning permission guide covers the basics.
What we would suggest for your home
Riverside and listed houses: we do not make timber windows, so where the originals should stay, our secondary glazing goes on the inside and can help with noise as well as draughts.
Interwar and post-war homes in Hounslow and Feltham: UPVC windows in the Selecta Advance 70 system, made to measure, with a composite front door.
Chiswick, Brentford and Isleworth houses and conversions: slim aluminium windows, led by the Reynaers SlimLine 68 outward-opening casement, with Cortizo and Alunet alternatives, subject to any conservation area rules.
Garden rooms: Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors, Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifold doors, conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns.
We can also fit porches, garage doors, fascias, soffits and guttering, and supply blinds and shutters.
Places we cover
We work in Hounslow, Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, Osterley, Heston, Cranford, Feltham, Hanworth and Bedfont. For neighbouring areas, see Ealing, Richmond upon Thames and Hillingdon, or our West London hub.
Our process
A surveyor comes out from Fifield with samples, as we have no showroom elsewhere, and measures each opening. You receive a written quote; aluminium windows start from £400, and our double glazing cost guide explains the rest. Aluminium frames are made at Fifield with lead times from 10 days, and our own installers fit them and take the old frames away. Installations come with a 10-year guarantee. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner and hold Constructionline Silver.

Frequently asked questions
Can Heathrow pay for new windows in my Hounslow home?
Possibly. Heathrow's Quieter Neighbourhood Support scheme can fund replacement windows or secondary glazing, external doors and other insulation for homes in targeted areas near the airport, usually on a like-for-like basis. Check your postcode on Heathrow's website before paying for glazing yourself. If you are not eligible, we can quote for you.
Is UPVC allowed at Strand on the Green?
Hounslow Council's conservation area appraisal for Strand on the Green encourages keeping and restoring historic windows and doors and does not recommend UPVC. Several buildings there are listed, which brings extra controls. Check with the council before planning any change. Secondary glazing, which we fit, can improve comfort while keeping the original windows.
Do I need permission for new windows in Bedford Park?
Probably. Bedford Park is a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, which restricts work normally allowed under permitted development, and part of it lies in Ealing rather than Hounslow. Check with the right council for your address before ordering. We can survey and give you a specification to support any application.
How quickly can you get to Hounslow?
Hounslow is one of the nearest London boroughs to our Fifield workshop, roughly 17 miles along the M4 and usually around 30 to 40 minutes' drive. That makes it easier to fit a survey into your week. Lead times for aluminium windows start from 10 days once the order is placed.
Which glass is best for aircraft noise in Feltham?
Noise performance depends on the glass make-up, the frame seals and how well the window is fitted. At survey we can discuss glass options for noisy rooms such as bedrooms facing the flight path. Secondary glazing is another option. First check whether Heathrow's Quieter Neighbourhood Support scheme covers your postcode.
