Aluminium has become the first choice for many west Kent homeowners who want slim frames, strong colours and windows that will not need repainting. Inspired Glazing fabricates aluminium windows in its own workshop and installs them with its own team across Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone, Edenbridge, Westerham and the villages in between. This page explains the systems we use, which Kent homes they suit, and how the process works when your installer is travelling from Fifield near Windsor.

The aluminium window systems we fabricate
Reynaers SlimLine 68: our core range
The Reynaers SlimLine 68 (SL68) is the window we fit most often. According to Reynaers, it offers ultra-slim sightlines in its outward-opening form, an “extreme” rating for air, water and wind resistance, an acoustic rating of Rw 47 dB, and PAS 24 and Secured by Design security ratings. It comes in Classic and Ferro design variants, with concealed hinges and concealed drainage available depending on profile and configuration (Reynaers SlimLine 68). We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner. Read our full SL68 guide.
Cortizo and Alunet
We also make windows in Cortizo and Alunet aluminium systems. These give us more options on budget, opening type and appearance, and we will explain the differences at your survey rather than push one system for every house.
Which Kent homes suit aluminium?
Period villas in Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells
Large Victorian and Edwardian houses on roads such as Kippington Road in Sevenoaks, or in the villa streets of Tunbridge Wells, often have tall openings and bays. A slim aluminium profile keeps the glass area generous, and design variants such as Classic help the frames read as traditional from the street. If the home is listed or in a conservation area, check with Sevenoaks District Council or Tunbridge Wells Borough Council first.
Weatherboarded and tile-hung cottages
White-painted weatherboarding and clay tile hanging are typical of Kent’s villages. On unlisted cottages, a slim aluminium casement in a soft white, cream or muted green can sit comfortably against the cladding. In places such as Edenbridge, the conservation area guidance places real value on traditional timber windows, so it is worth asking the council early whether aluminium is acceptable on a particular elevation.
Oast and barn conversions
Converted oasts, especially around Tonbridge, East Peckham and the Weald, have deep walls, unusual shapes and wide barn openings. Our in-house fabrication means we can make bespoke aluminium frames for these openings and pair them with large glazed doors.
Modern homes and extensions
Newer houses and contemporary extensions are where aluminium shines most: dark greys and blacks, minimal frames and big panes that link the house to the garden.
Colours, glass and hardware
Aluminium frames are powder-coated in a wide range of colours, and dual-colour frames let you choose one shade outside to suit the street and another inside to suit your rooms. We talk through glass options for noise, privacy and solar control, along with handles and locks. For homes on busy routes through Sevenoaks or Tunbridge Wells, acoustic glazing can make a real difference.
Planning in Kent: check first
Large parts of west Kent are in the Kent Downs or High Weald National Landscapes, and towns such as Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge have several conservation areas. Listed buildings always need consent to change their windows. Because the position varies from house to house, we always suggest you check with your council: Sevenoaks District Council, Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council or Maidstone Borough Council. We can supply drawings and product data for any application.
Doors to go with your windows
Many customers update their doors at the same time. We fit the Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding door, a lift-and-slide system that Reynaers lists with vents up to 2,700 mm high and wide and a zero-threshold option (source), plus bifold doors from Smart Visofold and Cortizo, and composite front doors.

Frequently asked questions
Are aluminium windows better than UPVC?
Neither is better for every home. Aluminium allows slimmer frames, larger panes and a wider choice of colours, and it does not need repainting. UPVC is usually lower in cost and suits many post-war and modern houses. The right choice depends on your home’s style, budget and planning position, and we are happy to quote both.
Can I have aluminium windows in a Kent conservation area?
Sometimes, depending on the property and the area. Some conservation area guidance in Kent places strong value on traditional timber windows, and listed buildings always need Listed Building Consent. Check with your council, such as Sevenoaks District Council or Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, before ordering. We can supply drawings and samples to support the discussion.
How secure are Reynaers SlimLine 68 windows?
Reynaers lists the SlimLine 68 window as Secured by Design and PAS 24 rated, and offers a burglar-resistant safety variant. In practice, security also depends on the glass, locks and the quality of installation, which is why our own team fits every window we make. We can talk through security options at your survey.
How much do aluminium windows cost in Kent?
Costs depend on the number and size of windows, opening styles, colours, glass specification and access. Our aluminium windows start from £400, but the only accurate price comes from measuring your home. The survey is free, and we follow it with a written, itemised quote with no obligation to proceed.
