Looking at double glazing in Hinckley? Inspired Glazing makes aluminium windows and doors in its own workshop and installs them with its own team, alongside UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. We have no Leicestershire office. We travel from Fifield, near Windsor, which is roughly 100 miles from Hinckley by road and usually around an hour and three-quarters to two hours via the M40, M42 and M69, so we plan every survey and installation in advance.

Hosiery built this town
Framework knitting reached Hinckley in the 17th century, and by around 1830 some 6,000 people in the district worked in hosiery. The town’s industrial heart was the area around Druid Street, now a conservation area designated in 2002, where most buildings went up between 1887 and 1903 as production moved into powered factories. Its late Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco factories sit among gated courtyards and jitties.
The centre is older than the factories. The Hinckley & District Museum occupies former framework knitters’ cottages of the 17th century, and the Great Meeting, a nonconformist chapel of 1722, keeps its galleried interior.
Housing followed the trade. Hollycroft, another conservation area, mixes late 19th and early 20th-century styles with a distinct 1930s layer: Hollycroft Park opened in 1935, St George’s Avenue was built as one scheme around 1934, and Shakespeare Drive has large, individually designed houses. After the war, new estates arrived in the 1950s, 1960s and 1990s, extending suburbs such as Middlefield, Stoneygate and Wykin. Burbage, to the south, is part of the same urban area but has its own parish council and sits on the far side of the railway line. With the M69 and the A47 Normandy Way close to some estates, acoustic glass is worth discussing if traffic noise bothers you.
Planning with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council is the planning authority. Within the urban area it has conservation areas for Hinckley Town Centre, Druid Street and Hollycroft, and for Burbage, Barwell, Earl Shilton and Stoke Golding. The Hollycroft appraisal singles out the cumulative effect of alterations to windows and doors, and inappropriate window proportions, as a threat, and notes that windows there are typically timber.
That does not mean you cannot change them, but it does mean you should check with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council before ordering if you live in one of these areas or in a listed building. Converted flats, which the Hollycroft appraisal mentions, have no householder permitted development rights. Our guide to planning permission for replacement windows lists the questions to ask.
Choosing products for a Hinckley house
1930s houses and Victorian terraces
Slim aluminium windows keep the proportions of older openings: the Reynaers SlimLine 68 is an outward-opening casement, and we also offer Cortizo and Alunet. We do not make timber windows, so where a council officer insists on timber we will tell you, and secondary glazing becomes the sensible alternative.
Post-war and 1990s estates
UPVC windows and doors in the Selecta Advance 70 system offer an economical whole-house upgrade, with woodgrain foils available. A composite front door finishes the job.
Gardens and extensions
Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors, Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifold doors, and conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns. Porches, garage doors, fascias, soffits, guttering, blinds and shutters are on our list too.
Covering Hinckley and its neighbours
We work throughout Hinckley, including Hollycroft, Middlefield, Stoneygate and Wykin, and in Burbage, Barwell, Earl Shilton and Stoke Golding. See also double glazing in Nuneaton, Bedworth and Rugby.
Survey to installation
Our surveyor comes to you on a pre-booked day, measures each opening and brings samples, so there is no need to visit a showroom. The written quote follows; aluminium windows start from £400, and the double glazing cost guide shows what changes the total. Frames are fabricated at Fifield with lead times from 10 days, and our own installers travel up on the agreed date to fit, seal and tidy up. Installations carry a 10-year guarantee. For peace of mind, we are Constructionline Silver accredited and a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work in Burbage and Barwell as well as Hinckley?
Yes. We cover Hinckley itself, including Hollycroft, Middlefield, Stoneygate and Wykin, plus Burbage, Barwell, Earl Shilton and Stoke Golding. We travel from Fifield, near Windsor, roughly 100 miles away, so we plan surveys and installations in the area in advance and agree dates with you.
Is Hollycroft a conservation area?
Yes. Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council designated Hollycroft as a conservation area, and its appraisal flags alterations to windows and doors as a concern. If your house is there, or in the Town Centre, Druid Street or Burbage conservation areas, check with the council before you replace any street-facing windows.
What windows suit a 1930s house on Shakespeare Drive or St George's Avenue?
Slim aluminium casements such as the Reynaers SlimLine 68 can keep the proportions of 1930s openings while improving insulation. In a conservation area, check the council's view first, as the Hollycroft appraisal notes that windows are typically timber. We do not make timber windows, so we will be honest if that is required.
How long will my Hinckley installation take to arrange?
After the survey and order, aluminium frames are made in our Fifield workshop with lead times from 10 days. Because Hinckley is a long journey for our team, we fix the installation date with you well in advance, and our own fitters arrive with everything needed to complete the work.
Do you install conservatories in Hinckley?
Yes. We design and build conservatories, orangeries, porches and roof lanterns, and we can pair them with Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or aluminium bifolds. Larger projects may need planning permission or building regulations approval, which we will discuss with you at the free survey.
