Aluminium is the material we know best. Every aluminium window we install in Surrey is fabricated in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and fitted by our own team. That gives us control over the details that matter on Surrey’s more demanding houses: sightlines, colour, glazing bar patterns and how a frame sits within an old brick opening.

Reynaers SlimLine 68: our core range
As a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner, the system we recommend most often is the Reynaers SlimLine 68 (SL68). It is a slim, outward-opening window designed for clean lines, and it suits both period renovation and contemporary architecture.
Figures published by Reynaers on its Reynaers technical information page include:
- A frame depth of 78 mm and a vent depth of 68 mm.
- A minimum frame width of 38 mm for outward-opening units.
- A Uw value of 1.1 W/m²K, based on triple glazing with window size and configuration as per BS EN 14351.
- Vent glazing from 26 mm to 43 mm thick.
- An acoustic rating of Rw(C;Ctr) = 47(-2;-7) dB.
Reynaers also states on its SlimLine 68 product page that the system carries SBD and PAS 24 ratings, comes in Ferro and Classic design variants, and offers concealed hinges and concealed drainage, so there are no plastic cover caps on show. Available options depend on profile and configuration, which we confirm at survey.
Cortizo and Alunet: alternatives where they fit better
We also supply Cortizo and Alunet aluminium windows. Not every opening needs the same system, and on some projects one of these offers a better match for the size, style or budget. We will explain why we are suggesting a particular range rather than defaulting to one name for every house.
Slimline and steel-look windows for Surrey’s period homes
Surrey has a remarkable stock of Edwardian and Arts and Crafts houses, from the large plots of Hook Heath in Woking to the commuter villages along the North Downs. Many were built with slender, multi-pane casements, some originally in steel. Owners often come to us wanting to keep that delicate look while ending draughts and condensation.
A slim aluminium frame with glazing bars, finished in a dark or traditional colour, can get close to that appearance. We will bring samples so you can judge the profile against your existing windows. What we will not do is promise an exact replica of original steel or timber, because in some conservation areas planners will want precisely that, and only the council can say whether aluminium is acceptable. Guildford Borough Council’s appraisal for Onslow Village, for example, describes colour-coated aluminium as inappropriate there. Check with your council before ordering.
Contemporary Surrey homes and extensions
At the other end of the scale are new-build and remodelled houses in places such as Weybridge, Cobham, Camberley and Reigate, where large panes and minimal frames are the brief. SL68 suits these too, and pairs naturally with Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or bifold doors from Smart Visofold and Cortizo for the garden elevation. Matching colours and sightlines across windows and doors gives the whole house a consistent look.
Colours, finishes and hardware
Colour does a lot of the work on a Surrey elevation. A soft off-white or grey can sit quietly on a rendered cottage near Dorking, while a near-black frame can sharpen a red-brick Edwardian house in Weybridge or a white-rendered modern home in Cobham. Many owners choose a different colour inside and out, so the frames suit the rooms as well as the street. We will bring colour samples to your survey and look at them against your brickwork, roof tiles and render in daylight, rather than asking you to choose from a screen.
Handles, hinges and glazing bar patterns matter just as much on period houses. Getting the bar layout right, for instance matching the pane pattern of neighbouring houses on the same road, is often the difference between a window that looks original and one that looks fitted.
Glass and comfort
Glass choice affects warmth, noise and safety. Homes near the M25, the A3 or a busy railway line in Woking or Weybridge may benefit from acoustic glass, while large south-facing panes might call for solar control. We will talk through double and triple glazing options at survey and put the agreed specification in your quote.
Planning in the Surrey Hills
Around a quarter of Surrey lies within the Surrey Hills National Landscape, and every borough has its own conservation areas. If your home is in either, a change of window material or colour may need consent. Check with your borough council, or from 1 April 2027 the new West Surrey or East Surrey council, and we will provide drawings and specification sheets to support your application.

Frequently asked questions
Why do you recommend Reynaers SlimLine 68?
It is a slim, outward-opening aluminium window that suits both period and modern houses. Reynaers publishes a Uw value of 1.1 W/m²K with triple glazing, SBD and PAS 24 ratings, and concealed hinge and drainage options. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner, and we fabricate the frames ourselves in our Fifield workshop.
Can aluminium windows look like original steel windows?
A slim aluminium frame with glazing bars in a dark finish can come close to the look of original steel casements, and we bring samples so you can compare. It is not an exact replica. In conservation areas the council may expect like-for-like materials, so check with your local council before choosing aluminium.
Are aluminium windows allowed in Surrey conservation areas?
Sometimes, but it varies by area and only the council can decide. Some Surrey conservation areas have Article 4 Directions covering front windows, and Guildford’s Onslow Village appraisal describes colour-coated aluminium as inappropriate. Check with your borough council, or the new West or East Surrey council from April 2027, before ordering.
Do you only fit Reynaers aluminium windows?
No. Reynaers SlimLine 68 is our core range, but we also supply Cortizo and Alunet aluminium windows. Different openings and budgets can suit different systems. At survey we explain which range we are recommending for each window and why, so you can make an informed decision rather than being steered towards one brand.
How much do aluminium windows cost in Surrey?
Prices start from £400. The final cost depends on the number and size of windows, the opening style, glass specification, colour and any work needed to the openings. After a free survey we provide a written, itemised quotation, so you can see exactly what is included before deciding.
