If you need double glazing in Oxted, Inspired Glazing makes aluminium windows and doors in its own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and installs them with its own fitters. UPVC windows and doors, composite front doors and conservatories are part of the range too. Oxted is around 45 miles from Fifield by road, normally about an hour round the M25 to junction 6, so we book surveys and fitting days to make the most of each trip.

Old Oxted, New Oxted and Hurst Green
Oxted has an unusual shape. Old Oxted, south-west of the A25, keeps a medieval street plan, and its oldest buildings, at 2 to 6 Godstone Road and The Old Bell, go back to the 15th and 16th centuries. New Oxted grew up to the north-east after the station opened in 1884, much of it in a mock Tudor style with stucco frontages that gives Station Road its look. To the south, Hurst Green is a mostly residential area with its own station, and Limpsfield runs straight on from Oxted to the east.
Oxted is also Tandridge’s administrative town, with the district council’s offices here, and the A25 bypass built in the late 1960s takes through traffic north of the old village. That leaves Old Oxted’s High Street quieter than it once was, though homes along the A25 itself still face steady traffic.
The housing follows the same story: tile-hung and timber-framed cottages in the old village, Edwardian and inter-war villas and semis around the station, and later family homes and estates in Hurst Green.
Conservation areas around Oxted
There are several conservation areas within a short walk of each other. The Oxted Conservation Area covers the old village, with around 21 listed buildings including the Grade II* Old Bell. Station Road West and Broadham Green and Spring Lane are separate designations, and Limpsfield, Woldingham Green and the two Godstone areas are close by. Tandridge District Council deals with planning, and from 1 April 2027 that passes to the new East Surrey council.
If your home is in one of these areas or is listed, check with Tandridge District Council before ordering. We do not make timber windows, and a listed cottage may need them; we would rather tell you that up front. Our guide to planning permission for replacement windows has more background.
Living below the Downs and beside the M25
Oxted sits at the foot of the North Downs, and the escarpment above the town lies in the Surrey Hills National Landscape. The M25 runs between the town and the hills, and homes on the northern side can hear it. Better-sealed modern frames help with both noise and draughts, and our surveyor can talk through glass choices for the elevations that face the motorway.

How we survey and install in Oxted
Because Oxted is a longer drive from Fifield, we plan surveys and installation days in advance around the journey. The surveyor measures each opening, checks the brickwork and reveals, and goes through styles and colours with you. After you approve the written quote, the frames are made in our Fifield workshop and our own team fits them, removing and taking away the old units. We have no office or showroom in Oxted.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need permission to change windows in Old Oxted?
Possibly. Old Oxted is a conservation area with many listed buildings, and listed buildings need listed building consent for most window changes. Station Road West and Broadham Green are also designated. Check with Tandridge District Council, or the East Surrey council from April 2027, before you order. We do not make timber windows.
Can double glazing reduce M25 noise in Oxted?
Replacing old, poorly sealed windows with modern double glazing usually makes a noticeable difference to traffic noise and draughts. The result depends on the glass, the frame and how well it is fitted. Our surveyor can discuss glass options for the side of your home facing the motorway during the free survey.
Which windows suit a mock Tudor house near Oxted station?
Many owners choose aluminium casements in a dark colour, such as Reynaers SlimLine 68, an outward-opening casement with slim frames that sits well against stucco and timbering. Woodgrain-finish UPVC on the Selecta Advance 70 system is another option. We will suggest glazing bar layouts that keep the character of the front.
How long is the journey from Fifield to Oxted?
Oxted is around 45 miles from our Fifield workshop by road, usually about an hour via the M25, and longer at peak times. Because of the distance we plan surveys and fitting days ahead. Our own surveyor and installers make the trip; we have no Oxted office or showroom.
Do you install in Limpsfield and Hurst Green too?
Yes. We cover Limpsfield, Hurst Green, Woldingham, Godstone and the surrounding Tandridge villages as well as Oxted itself. Limpsfield has its own conservation area, so check with Tandridge District Council if you live within it. Surveys are free, and we fabricate everything in our own Fifield workshop.
