Hillingdon is one of the closest London boroughs to our base, which makes double glazing in Hillingdon a short trip for us. Inspired Glazing fabricates aluminium windows and doors in its own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and fits them with its own team, along with UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. Uxbridge is roughly 13 to 15 miles from Fifield by road via the M4 and M25, usually around half an hour; Northwood and Harefield take a little longer. We have no office in the borough, but we are rarely far away.

London’s second-largest borough
Hillingdon was formed in 1965 from Uxbridge, Hayes and Harlington, Ruislip-Northwood and Yiewsley and West Drayton. By area it is the second largest of the 32 London boroughs, and much of it lies within the Metropolitan Green Belt, with the Colne Valley Regional Park along the River Colne in the west.
The north grew with the Metropolitan Railway’s extension from Harrow to Uxbridge in the early twentieth century, and the stations along the line became part of Metro-land. Ruislip Manor is a clear example: the halt opened in 1912 and George Ball built the Manor Homes estate on 186 acres south of the railway between 1933 and 1939, aimed at working people buying their first home. The south, around Hayes, Yiewsley and West Drayton, had stronger industrial roots and is now mainly suburban. Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, sits within the borough, so aircraft noise is part of daily life in the Heathrow Villages ward, which takes in Harmondsworth, Sipson and Harlington.
The Grand Union Canal adds another strand: several of Hillingdon’s conservation areas, from Cowley Lock to Widewater Lock and Black Jacks and Copper Mill Lock at Harefield, follow the waterway and the Colne valley.
Planning: 31 conservation areas
The London Borough of Hillingdon has 31 conservation areas. They include Ruislip Village, Ruislip Manor Way, Eastcote Village, Eastcote Park Estate, Ickenham Village, Harefield Village, Northwood Frithwood, Northwood Town Centre (Green Lane), Old Uxbridge/Windsor Street, The Greenway in Uxbridge, Hillingdon Village, Hayes Village, Harlington, Harmondsworth and Longford villages, West Drayton Green and several canal-side areas along the Grand Union, such as Cowley Lock and Uxbridge Lock.
If your home is in one of these, or is listed, check with Hillingdon Council before ordering new windows or doors. Flats have no householder permitted development rights, and leaseholders also need the freeholder’s agreement. Our replacement windows planning guide explains the general rules.
Which products fit which homes
Metro-land semis in Ruislip, Eastcote and Ickenham
For the 1930s housing that fills so much of the north of the borough, our UPVC windows and doors in the Selecta Advance 70 system are a sensible like-for-like replacement, and a composite door finishes the front. Woodgrain foils give a timber look; we do not make timber windows.
Homes near Heathrow
If you live under a flight path in Harlington, Sipson or Harmondsworth, raise noise at the survey so we can talk through glass options for your windows before you order.
Older and larger houses
In Northwood, Harefield and the old village centres, slim aluminium windows such as the outward-opening Reynaers SlimLine 68 help keep the character of the elevation, with Cortizo and Alunet as further options. Garden openings suit Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifolds, and we build conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns.

Being this close helps: surveys are easy to book, and our surveyor brings frame colours and hardware to your home because the only place we work from is Fifield. After the survey you receive a written quote. Aluminium windows start from £400, and our double glazing cost guide shows what affects a full-house price. Frames are made in our workshop with lead times from 10 days, and our own installers fit them. Every installation has a 10-year guarantee. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner and hold Constructionline Silver.

Frequently asked questions
How quickly can you survey in Uxbridge or Ruislip?
Hillingdon is close to our Fifield workshop, with Uxbridge roughly 13 to 15 miles away by road, usually around half an hour. That makes surveys straightforward to book. Call 01753 965 005 or use our online quote form and we will arrange a date that suits you.
Are there conservation areas in Ruislip and Eastcote?
Yes. Hillingdon Council's list includes Ruislip Village, Ruislip Manor Way, Eastcote Village, Eastcote Park Estate and Morford Way in Eastcote. Many streets sit outside these boundaries, but if you think your home might be inside one, check with Hillingdon Council before ordering replacement windows or doors.
Can new windows help with Heathrow aircraft noise?
Glass specification makes a difference to how much outside noise comes through a window, so if you live near Heathrow, mention it at the survey. We will talk through glass options for your windows and doors. Fitting quality matters too, which is why our own installers seal every frame.
Do you fit composite doors in Hayes and West Drayton?
Yes. We supply and fit composite front and back doors across the borough, including Hayes, Yiewsley and West Drayton. Composite doors are also our main timber-look option, as we do not make timber doors. We can match them with UPVC or aluminium windows.
Who actually makes and fits the windows?
We do. Our aluminium windows and doors are made in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and our own team carries out the installation. Every installation carries a 10-year guarantee. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner and hold Constructionline Silver.
