We fabricate aluminium windows and doors in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and our own fitters install them, along with UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. Yateley is one of the closer towns we serve: roughly 17 miles by road from Fifield, usually around 35 minutes through Bracknell and Crowthorne. From village greens to 1970s estates
Yateley is the second-largest settlement in Hart District, but it grew from a scatter of farms and cottages around open greens. Hart’s own design statement for the town traces the change: some inter-war infill and ribbon building, then municipal housing after the war, and the biggest waves of construction in the 1960s and 1970s. Those decades produced the large estates of semis, terraces and bungalows reached by spine roads and cul-de-sacs, such as the Tudor Drive, Vigo Lane and Wordsworth Avenue estates. Since the 1980s, smaller cul-de-sac schemes, executive houses and infill have filled the gaps.
That history matters for windows. A 1970s semi in Yateley may well be on its second set of frames already, with white UPVC from the 1990s that has yellowed, misted or lost its seals. A bungalow often has wide, low openings where slimmer frames make a real difference to the light. Older survivors, from 17th-century cottages to Victorian houses, need a more careful approach.
Conservation areas and planning in Yateley
Hart District Council is the planning authority. Yateley has three conservation areas of its own: Yateley Green, Cricket Hill and Darby Green, the last two following the old settlement around Yateley Common. Hart also lists Hawley Park and Green, and several Eversley conservation areas close by. If your house is inside one of these, is listed, or is a flat, check with Hart District Council before ordering; flats do not have householder permitted development rights. Our guide to planning permission for replacement windows sets out the usual questions to ask.
Local things worth knowing
- The Blackwater valley. The northern edge of the town runs down to the River Blackwater, where old gravel workings have become the Yateley Lakes. Homes near the valley floor can be checked against the Environment Agency flood map; it does not change the windows we fit, but it can affect door thresholds.
- Blackbushe Airport. The airfield sits on part of Yateley Common, south of the town and north of the A30. Woodland screens much of it, but if light aircraft noise bothers you, ask us about acoustic glass options at survey.
- Heath and common. Houses backing onto Yateley Common get more wind and less shelter than those in the middle of the estates.
Products that fit Yateley houses
Aluminium windows
Our main range is the Reynaers SlimLine 68, an outward-opening casement that we build at Fifield. Its narrow frame suits the bungalows and chalet houses around the town, and it is the closest we get to the look of a steel or slim timber window without the upkeep. We also make Cortizo and Alunet aluminium windows. See our aluminium windows and doors page for colours and options; aluminium windows start from £400.
UPVC windows
For a straightforward like-for-like change on a 1970s or 1980s house, UPVC windows in the Selecta Advance 70 system are good value, with woodgrain foils if you want something other than white.
Doors and rear openings
A composite front door is the usual answer for a solid, low-maintenance entrance with a timber look. We do not make timber doors. At the back, bifold doors from Smart Visofold or Cortizo, or Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding patio doors, open a kitchen extension to the garden. For more room, we build conservatories, orangeries, porches and roof lanterns.
Where we cover around Yateley
We fit across Yateley itself, Frogmore, Darby Green and Cricket Hill, and out to Eversley, Blackwater and Hawley. Across the river we also cover Sandhurst and Crowthorne, and to the south-west Fleet.
How it works
We start with a free survey at your home: measurements, a look at the existing frames and reveals, and a talk about what you want from the new windows. You get a written quote afterwards. Once you are happy, we make the aluminium frames in our Fifield workshop, with lead times from 10 days, and the same team fits them. Everything we install carries a 10-year guarantee. For a rough idea of budget first, read our double glazing cost guide.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Yateley from your workshop?
Yateley is roughly 17 miles by road from our workshop at Coningsby Farm in Fifield, near Windsor, which is usually around 35 minutes' drive via Bracknell and Crowthorne. We have no office or showroom in Yateley. Our own surveyors and fitters travel from Fifield for every visit, so there is no subcontracted installer.
Do I need permission to replace windows in Yateley Green Conservation Area?
It depends on the property and what you are changing. Conservation area status, listing, and flats can all bring extra controls, while many like-for-like replacements on ordinary houses need no application. Yateley Green, Cricket Hill and Darby Green are all conservation areas, so check with Hart District Council before you order. We can supply drawings and specifications if an application is needed.
Are aluminium windows suitable for a 1970s Yateley semi?
Yes. Aluminium suits houses of that age well, especially where the openings are wide and you want more glass and less frame. Our Reynaers SlimLine 68 casement is slim but rigid, and is made in our own workshop. If budget matters most, UPVC in the Selecta Advance 70 system is a sensible like-for-like alternative. Aluminium windows start from £400.
Can you help with noise from Blackbushe Airport?
Standard double glazing already cuts outside noise noticeably compared with old or failed units. If light aircraft from Blackbushe or traffic on the A30 or Reading Road bothers you, mention it at the survey. We can talk through glass options intended to improve acoustic performance and point out where good seals and careful fitting make the biggest difference.
How soon could new windows be fitted in Yateley?
After the survey and your go-ahead, our lead time starts from 10 days for aluminium windows made in our Fifield workshop. Bigger jobs, special colours or bifold and sliding doors can take longer, and we will give you a realistic date when you order. Yateley is close to us, so fitting days are easy to arrange.
