Looking at double glazing in Croydon? Inspired Glazing makes aluminium windows and doors in its workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and installs them with its own team, together with UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. We are not based in Croydon. The drive from Fifield is roughly 30 to 35 miles, usually around an hour to an hour and a quarter, and we book every survey and installation from there.

One of London’s largest boroughs, with very mixed housing
Croydon is among the most populous London boroughs, and its homes reflect a century and a half of growth. In the north, Norbury, Thornton Heath and South Norwood are long-established suburbs, and Thornton Heath is home to Croydon University Hospital. Addiscombe, close to East Croydon station, is popular with commuters. Selsdon is an inter-war suburb of the 1920s and 1930s with many Art Deco homes, while Forestdale was built from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s. New Addington is a large council estate surrounded by open countryside and golf courses.
The south of the borough rises onto the North Downs. Purley, Kenley, Coulsdon and Sanderstead sit on higher, greener ground, and Kenley lies in the Green Belt. Larger older houses are found in areas such as Coombe and Monks Orchard.
Croydon’s conservation areas and Article 4 directions
Croydon Council is the planning authority and currently has 21 conservation areas. Three of them, Chatsworth Road, The Waldrons and Kenley Aerodrome, also have Article 4 directions that add restrictions on permitted development. Chatsworth Road, for example, is described by the council as well-preserved large Victorian and Edwardian houses in a range of notable styles. The council has not said on that page whether windows are included, so check with Croydon Council before ordering if you live in one of these areas, or in any conservation area or listed building. Flats have no householder permitted development rights. Read our planning guide for replacement windows for the general picture.
Our products for Croydon homes
For older houses in the north and centre
Our aluminium windows give slimmer frames than most plastic systems. The Reynaers SlimLine 68 is an outward-opening casement and our core range, with Cortizo and Alunet as alternatives. We do not make timber windows or doors.
For Selsdon, Shirley and other inter-war streets
UPVC windows in the Selecta Advance 70 system cope well with bays and come in white, colours or woodgrain. Pair them with a composite front door.
For bigger plots on the Downs
Houses in Purley, Sanderstead and Coulsdon often have room for Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors, Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifolds, or a conservatory or orangery. We also fit porches, roof lanterns, garage doors, fascias and soffits, and blinds and shutters.
Hillside homes and exposed sites
Parts of south Croydon sit high on the Downs: Hamsey Green is on the North Downs plateau, Sanderstead is a village on high ground, and the Addington Hills rise to the east. At survey we look at which elevations take the weather, the condition of sills and reveals, and whether larger doors need a different threshold or drainage detail. Where an older bay window has moved over the years, we check it before measuring so the new frames fit properly. If any brickwork or lintel repairs are needed first, we tell you at the survey rather than on fitting day, so the cost is clear from the start.

How we work from Fifield
We start with a free survey: measurements, a look at the brickwork and access, and samples of colours and handles. The written quote follows. Aluminium windows start from £400, and the double glazing cost guide shows what pushes a price up or down. We fabricate the aluminium ourselves, with lead times from 10 days, and our own installers fit it. You get a 10-year guarantee. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner and Constructionline Silver.

Frequently asked questions
Which Croydon conservation areas have Article 4 directions?
Croydon Council lists Article 4 directions for the Chatsworth Road, The Waldrons and Kenley Aerodrome conservation areas. They add restrictions on permitted development to protect each area's character. Check with Croydon Council what they cover for your property before ordering windows or doors. We can supply drawings and specifications if you need to apply.
What windows suit an Art Deco house in Selsdon?
Selsdon was largely built in the 1920s and 1930s and has many Art Deco homes. At survey we record the existing window shapes and glazing pattern, then show how UPVC in the Selecta Advance 70 system or slim aluminium can follow them. Keeping the original proportions helps the house look right from the street.
How far do you travel to reach Croydon?
Our workshop is at Fifield, near Windsor. Croydon is roughly 30 to 35 miles by road, usually around an hour to an hour and a quarter depending on traffic. We have no local branch. Our own team travels from Fifield for both the survey and installation, and fitting days are planned around the journey.
Do you fit windows in New Addington council or ex-council homes?
Yes, for homeowners. If you own your home outright, we can survey and quote for UPVC or aluminium windows and composite doors. If you are a leaseholder in a flat, you will need the freeholder's consent, and flats have no householder permitted development rights. Council tenants should speak to their landlord instead.
How much do aluminium windows cost in Croydon?
Our aluminium windows start from 400 pounds each. The total depends on window sizes, opening styles, colour, glass and access. Our double glazing cost guide explains the main factors. A free survey gives you a written quote for your home, with no obligation to go ahead.
