Inspired Glazing makes and installs Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 aluminium sliding doors for Hampstead homes, and offers Cortizo sliders where an opening suits them better. As a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner, we fabricate every door at our Fifield workshop near Windsor and fit it with our own team. The drive into NW3 is usually an hour or a little more, as Hampstead lies about 23 miles from us in a straight line.

Big glass for houses near the Heath
Hampstead is bordered by the Heath to the north and east, and many houses here have long gardens with mature trees or views out over rooftops. A sliding door gives the largest single panes we make, with slim interlocks, so the garden reads as one picture rather than a row of narrow frames.
Sliders also suit tall Victorian rear rooms in the Frognal and Fitzjohns area, where generous ceiling heights allow a door well above standard height. Nothing projects into the room when the door is open, which keeps the space around a dining table or sofa clear. On a semi-detached or detached house with a wider plot, two or three vents on a multi-rail frame can open up a large part of the rear wall while still keeping fixed glass at the ends.
The ConceptPatio 130 specification
Reynaers publishes these figures for the system. Performance varies with size, profile combination, hardware and glass, so we check each value against your design.
- Maximum vent size of 2,700 by 2,700 mm, and up to 300 kg per vent.
- Threshold as low as 4 mm in the lowest configurations.
- Thermal value of Uw 1.4 W/mยฒK on the stated reference glass and size.
- Security tested to PAS 24 and RC2.
- Acoustic performance of Rw 39 dB, helpful on houses near busy roads such as Haverstock Hill.
- Monorail, two-rail and three-rail frames, plus an open-corner option.

Cortizo options for very large panes
For a minimal-frame look or panes beyond the ConceptPatio limits, Cortizo’s Cor Vision Plus lists sashes up to 4 m wide or high, at up to 400 kg each when operated by hand. Its lower rail can be recessed into the floor, and Cortizo quotes Uw from 0.9 W/mยฒK. The Cortizo range page gives more detail.
Planning and building consents
Camden is the planning authority for most of Hampstead. The Hampstead Conservation Area has a statement Camden adopted in 2001 and uses when deciding applications, so a new rear opening or extension needs careful design. Check with Camden Council about planning and, for a listed house, listed building consent. Our planning permission guide explains when glazing changes need approval.
In a mansion block or a house split into flats, the freeholder or managing agent normally has to agree to changes to the rear wall. Their consent can take weeks, so it is worth starting before the survey.
Access, parking and lifting
A ConceptPatio vent can weigh up to 300 kg, so access matters. We look at the route from the street to the opening during the survey, including steps down to a lower-ground floor. If the house has no off-street parking, we book a Camden parking bay suspension, which the council asks for at least 17 days in advance.
Weighing up a folding door
If you would rather open the whole width in summer, a bifold may suit you better than a slider. Our article on sliding doors versus bifolds sets out the trade-offs, and our bifold doors in Hampstead page covers the folding systems we fit.
Our process
We travel out from Fifield to survey, then agree the layout, glass and finish with you or your architect. The doors are made in our own workshop, with lead times from 10 days, and installed by our own fitters, who handle the frame, vents, seals and adjustment. Our 10-year guarantee covers the installation, and we are Constructionline Silver accredited.

We also install sliding doors in Swiss Cottage, Primrose Hill and St John’s Wood.

Frequently asked questions
How big can a Reynaers sliding door panel be?
Reynaers lists a maximum ConceptPatio 130 vent size of 2,700 mm high by 2,700 mm wide, with each vent up to 300 kg. Wider openings combine several vents and fixed panes on two or three rails. Actual limits depend on the glass and layout, so we confirm what your Hampstead opening can take after measuring it.
Will a large slider be allowed in the Hampstead Conservation Area?
It depends on the house, the elevation and whether it is listed. Camden assesses applications against the Hampstead Conservation Area statement, and rear changes can still need consent. A well-proportioned opening on a garden elevation is often treated differently from one visible from the street. Check with Camden Council or ask your architect to seek pre-application advice.
Can you get heavy glass into a lower-ground floor?
Usually, yes, but we plan it at survey. Vents can weigh up to 300 kg, so we check steps, doorways and any side passage, and we decide whether panels go through the house or around it. Where the route is very tight, we may suggest a different vent split to keep each panel manageable.
Do sliding doors help with road noise in Hampstead?
ConceptPatio 130 has a published sound reduction value of Rw 39 dB, and the glass specification has a large effect on the final figure. For homes near main roads such as Haverstock Hill, we can discuss acoustic laminated glass. Most rear gardens are quieter than the street, so noise is mainly a concern on exposed elevations.
Do I need to book parking for the installation?
If you have no driveway or off-street space, yes. We arrange a Camden parking bay suspension so the van can park close to the house for unloading. Camden asks for at least 17 days' notice, so we book once your fitting date is fixed and tell you which bays will be suspended.
