Inspired Glazing fits double glazing in Bexley for homes in Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Welling, Erith, Crayford and the villages between them. Our aluminium windows and doors are made in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and fitted by our own team, and we also supply UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. Bexley is one of the furthest London boroughs from us: roughly 45 to 55 miles by road depending on route, and usually an hour and a quarter or more each way. We plan Bexley surveys and installations in advance around that journey.

A suburb shaped by the 1930s
Bexley’s common lands were enclosed in 1819, and a new town grew up along the London to Dover road at Bexleyheath. Erith developed as an industrial town after the Crossness sewage works opened in 1865. The biggest change came between the wars, when Bexley and Foots Cray, renamed Sidcup in 1921, were rapidly suburbanised during the housing boom. Much of Bexleyheath, Welling and Sidcup is interwar suburban housing as a result, including streets of semi-detached houses.
The borough also has a famous one-off. Red House in Bexleyheath was designed by Philip Webb and William Morris in 1859 as Morris’s family home, and has belonged to the National Trust since 2003. In the north, the original late-1960s part of Thamesmead, built by the Greater London Council on former marshland, falls within Bexley; its early design put living rooms above ground level because the area had flooded in 1953.
What the council protects
The London Borough of Bexley has 23 conservation areas. They include Old Bexley, North Cray Village, Foots Cray, Christ Church Sidcup, The Green Sidcup, The Oval Sidcup, Longlands Road, Lesney Park Road in Erith, Erith Riverside, Iron Mill Lane and Star Hill in Crayford, Woolwich Road in Upper Belvedere, and Red House Lane in Bexleyheath.
Four of them, Brook Street, Old Bexley, Old Forge Way and Red House Lane, have Article 4(2) directions that limit what can be done without planning permission. If you live in one of these, in a listed building or in a flat, check with Bexley Council before you order. Flats have no householder permitted development rights. Our guide to planning permission for replacement windows explains what to ask.
Matching our range to Bexley homes
1930s semis. An interwar semi, bay-fronted or not, is well suited to UPVC windows in our Selecta Advance 70 system, made to fit each bay, with a matching composite front door. Woodgrain finishes are available if you want the look of timber; we do not make timber windows.
Back of the house. Where there is room at the back, consider Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifold doors, and for conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns.
Slimmer frames. Our aluminium windows, led by the outward-opening Reynaers SlimLine 68 casement, with Cortizo and Alunet ranges as well, give narrower sightlines for newer or remodelled homes, and suit large rear windows overlooking the garden.
Older cottages in conservation areas. Where the council wants original windows kept, our secondary glazing fits inside them.
We also fit porches, garage doors, fascias, soffits and guttering, plus blinds and shutters.
Towns and villages we cover
Our Bexley work covers Bexleyheath, Old Bexley, Sidcup, Welling, Blackfen, Crayford, Erith, Belvedere, Slade Green, North Cray and the Bexley side of Thamesmead. Nearby, see our Dartford, Greenwich and Bromley pages, and the Kent windows and doors hub.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need planning permission for new windows in Old Bexley?
Possibly. Old Bexley is a conservation area with an Article 4(2) direction, which limits work that would normally be allowed without permission. Window and door changes may need an application. Check your address with Bexley Council before ordering. We can survey your home and provide the specification you need for any application.
What windows suit a 1930s bay-fronted semi in Bexleyheath?
Our UPVC windows in the Selecta Advance 70 system are made to fit each bay, and woodgrain finishes can give a traditional look. For slimmer frames, our aluminium windows are an alternative. Many semis also benefit from a new composite front door and sliding or bifold doors at the back.
Is Bexley too far for you to cover?
No, but it takes planning. We are based at Fifield, near Windsor, roughly 45 to 55 miles away by road depending on route, and usually an hour and a quarter or more each way. We book surveys and fitting days in advance and start early so the work can be completed efficiently.
Can you fit a conservatory in Sidcup?
Yes, we design and build conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns. Many conservatories fall within permitted development, but limits on size and position apply, and conservation areas such as The Green, The Oval or Christ Church in Sidcup may be different. Check with Bexley Council, and we can advise on design at the survey.
How long does it take to get new windows fitted in Bexley?
Lead times for aluminium windows start from 10 days after you order. Fitting dates for Bexley are booked around the journey from Fifield, so allow a little extra time for scheduling. How long fitting takes depends on the number of openings, and our own team removes the old frames.
