For double glazing in Warminster, Inspired Glazing fits aluminium windows and doors made in its own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, together with UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. We do not have a showroom in Wiltshire. Warminster is roughly 85 miles from Fifield by road and takes around an hour and three-quarters to reach, so our surveyor and installers travel out on dates planned in advance.

Warminster’s houses, old and new
Warminster is an old market town on the western edge of Salisbury Plain, ringed by six hills including the Iron Age forts of Battlesbury Camp, Scratchbury Camp and Cley Hill. The Minster Church of St Denys was begun in the 11th century, and the town centre is covered by the Warminster Town Centre Conservation Area. Portway House, built in 1722 for a wealthy clothier, is the town’s only Grade I listed building, while The Chantry, Byne House and 38β40 Market Place are Grade II*. The Town Hall, designed around 1837 by Edward Blore, has a front modelled on nearby Longleat.
Away from the centre, the former hamlets of Bugley and Boreham have been absorbed as suburbs, and the population has more than tripled since 1901. The Army has a strong presence, with Warminster Garrison and Battlesbury Barracks on the edge of town, so as well as period properties there is a broad mix of 20th-century and modern family housing.
The town has a strong cultural thread too. The Athenaeum, designed by William Jervis Stent and built in 1857, is Wiltshire’s oldest working theatre, and Dents the glovemakers moved here in 1937. A minor river, The Were, runs through Warminster to join the River Wylye on the south-east outskirts, and the Longleat estate lies about four miles to the west.
Our range, matched to the town
Period houses on and off the Market Place. Many are listed or in the conservation area, so the council’s view comes first. Where new frames are acceptable, our aluminium windows include the Reynaers SlimLine 68 outward-opening casement and Cortizo and Alunet systems. We do not make timber windows or doors. If timber is required, secondary glazing is a way to cut draughts and noise without replacing the original windows.
Family homes in Boreham, Bugley and newer estates. UPVC windows and doors in the Selecta Advance 70 system replace older units without fuss. A composite door gives a solid, timber-style front entrance.
Gardens facing the hills. For rear elevations with a view, Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors keep frames slim across wide spans, and Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifold doors open the whole width. We also design conservatories, orangeries, porches and roof lanterns, and supply garage doors, fascias, soffits, guttering, blinds and shutters.
Wiltshire Council and permissions
Planning in Warminster is handled by Wiltshire Council. Before ordering, check with Wiltshire Council if your home is listed, sits within the Town Centre Conservation Area or is a flat. Flats do not have householder permitted development rights, so new windows in a block can need planning permission as well as the freeholder’s consent. Our page on planning permission for replacement windows sets out what to ask.
Covering Warminster and nearby villages
We work throughout Warminster, including Boreham and Bugley, and in Bishopstrow, Upton Scudamore, Sutton Veny and Crockerton. Close by, see double glazing in Westbury, Frome and Salisbury.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need permission to replace windows in Warminster town centre?
Possibly. The centre is covered by the Warminster Town Centre Conservation Area and has many listed buildings, including Portway House and several Grade II* properties. Listed buildings always need consent for new windows. For anything in or near the centre, check with Wiltshire Council's planning team before you place an order.
How far is Warminster from your workshop?
Warminster is roughly 85 miles from our workshop in Fifield, near Windsor, which is around an hour and three-quarters by road. We have no local office, so we plan surveys and fitting days in advance and our own team travels to you. That planning is built into the date we agree when you order.
Can you fit windows for service families or rented homes?
We fit windows for homeowners and landlords who own the property. Service family accommodation owned by the Ministry of Defence or a housing provider is normally maintained by that organisation, so tenants would need to speak to them. For a privately owned house or a let property you own, we are happy to survey and quote.
Which is better for a wide garden opening, sliding or bifold?
Sliding doors such as the Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 give large glass panes and slim frames, and do not take up patio space when open. Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifolds open almost the full width but leave a stack of folded panels. At survey we look at the opening and how you use the garden before recommending one.
What is the lead time for aluminium windows?
Aluminium windows are fabricated in our Fifield workshop with lead times from 10 days once the order and final measurements are confirmed. For Warminster, the fitting date also has to fit our travel schedule, so we agree a firm installation date with you at the time of order.
