Double Glazing in Bedworth: Windows, Doors and Conservatories

Inspired Glazing fits double glazing in Bedworth, from aluminium windows built in our own workshop to UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. Our team is based at Fifield, near Windsor, with no branch in Warwickshire. Bedworth is roughly 95 miles from us by road, usually around an hour and three-quarters, so surveys and installations are booked in advance and planned around the drive.

Mining, weaving and the homes they left

Bedworth grew on coal. Mining here is recorded from the 13th century and peaked in 1939, when twenty pits around the town produced more than 5.8 million tons; Newdigate Colliery closed in 1982 and Coventry Colliery in 1991. French Huguenot weavers brought ribbon making in the 18th century, until free trade with France in the 1860s ended it and hat making took over until the 1950s.

Little of the weavers’ world survives, although listed status turns up in unexpected places: the Grade II former water tower was sold in 2015 for conversion into six apartments. The Mill Street cottages that once housed them were demolished for the Tesco development. What remains in the centre is a compact group of older buildings around All Saints’ Square, including the Tudor-style Nicholas Chamberlaine Almshouses of 1840 and All Saints’ Church, both Grade II*. Around that core, the town spreads into the residential districts of Collycroft, Mount Pleasant, Bedworth Heath, Coalpit Field, Goodyers End and Exhall, which are mostly ordinary brick family houses where a window replacement is a practical job rather than a heritage project.

Location matters too. The M6 runs immediately south of the town at junction 3, the A444 bypass feeds it, and the Coventry Canal follows the eastern edge. If your bedroom faces one of the main roads, ask about acoustic glass when we survey.

Checking with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council

Planning in Bedworth is handled by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council. The Bedworth Town Centre conservation area, designated in 1988, covers about ten and a half hectares and six listed buildings, and Bulkington, about a mile and a half to the east, has its own conservation area with an appraisal adopted in 2022. If your home is in either, or is listed, check with the borough council before changing windows or doors.

Flats are a separate case: they have no householder permitted development rights, so new windows normally need planning permission and the freeholder’s consent. Our guide to planning permission for replacement windows covers this. The government has confirmed that the borough will be merged with North Warwickshire and Rugby into a new North Warwickshire Council, expected from 1 April 2028; for now the borough council decides.

What we would suggest for a Bedworth home

Brick semis and terraces

UPVC windows and doors in the Selecta Advance 70 system are the usual choice for straightforward replacements, and woodgrain foils are available. For a sleeker frame or a darker colour, our aluminium windows include the Reynaers SlimLine 68 casement and Cortizo and Alunet alternatives.

Doors front and back

A composite front door gives strength and a timber-look finish. At the back, choose Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors or Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifold doors.

More space and finishing touches

We design conservatories, orangeries, porches and roof lanterns, and also fit secondary glazing, garage doors, fascias, soffits, guttering, blinds and shutters. We do not make timber windows or doors.

Where we cover

Every Bedworth district, plus Exhall and Bulkington. For neighbouring towns, see double glazing in Nuneaton, Coventry and Hinckley.

Our process, start to finish

We start with a free survey on a date that fits our travel plan, measuring each opening and showing you samples and colours. You then receive a written quote: aluminium windows start from £400, and our double glazing cost guide explains the variables. Aluminium frames are made at Fifield with lead times from 10 days. On fitting day, our own installers drive up, remove the old frames, fit and seal the new ones and take the waste away. A 10-year guarantee covers the work. Our accreditations: a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner, and Constructionline Silver.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover Bulkington and Exhall as well as Bedworth?

Yes. We cover all of Bedworth, including Collycroft, Mount Pleasant, Bedworth Heath, Coalpit Field and Goodyers End, as well as Exhall and Bulkington. Because we travel from Fifield, near Windsor, roughly 95 miles away, we group surveys and installations in the area and agree dates with you in advance.

Will I need permission to replace windows in Bedworth town centre?

If your property is listed, in the Bedworth Town Centre conservation area or is a flat, you may need consent. Ordinary houses outside those cases can often replace windows under permitted development. Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council can confirm the position for your address, so check with them first.

Are UPVC or aluminium windows better for a Bedworth semi?

Both work well. UPVC in the Selecta Advance 70 system is the more economical like-for-like replacement for most semis and terraces. Aluminium, such as the Reynaers SlimLine 68, gives slimmer frames, more glass and a wider choice of colours. We will show you both at the survey.

How long will I wait for new windows?

Aluminium frames are made in our own Fifield workshop, with lead times from 10 days once the survey is done and the order confirmed. Because Bedworth is a long drive for us, we fix the installation date with you in advance so our team arrives with everything needed to finish.

What guarantee comes with your Bedworth installations?

Every installation comes with a 10-year guarantee, and we explain exactly what it covers before you sign. We make our aluminium windows and doors ourselves and fit them with our own team, rather than subcontracting, and we are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner with Constructionline Silver accreditation.
