What double glazing means in 2026
Modern double glazing is a sealed unit of two panes with an argon-filled gap and a low-emissivity coating. For a replacement window it should be A-rated, meet Building Regulations Part L (a U-value of 1.4 W/m2K or better), include trickle ventilation where required under Part F, and use safety glass in critical locations under Part K. For a new dwelling or a ground-floor opening it should also meet the PAS 24 security standard.
