Double glazing in Brent covers everything from Victorian townhouses in Kilburn to Metro-land semis in Kingsbury, and Inspired Glazing works across the whole borough. We make aluminium windows and doors in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and fit them with our own team; we also supply UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. There is no Brent showroom. Our surveyors and fitters drive in from Fifield, roughly 22 to 25 miles by road, which usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour depending on the A40 and North Circular.

Two halves of one borough
Brent was created in 1965 by joining Willesden and Wembley, and it is named after the river that once divided them. The east, around Kilburn, Willesden, Harlesden and Kensal Green, has an inner-city feel; the west, around Wembley, Kenton and Kingsbury, is more suburban. Wembley Stadium sits in the middle of it all, and we take event days into account when booking work near Wembley Park.
The council’s own heritage research shows how the housing came in layers. North Kilburn was built between 1886 and 1896. Mapesbury and Queen’s Park are largely townhouse developments of 1895 to 1905, and Harlesden’s high street is framed by Victorian and Edwardian terraces. Willesden Green’s centre grew between 1881 and 1906 after the Metropolitan Railway opened. Then came the interwar suburbs: Roe Green Village’s garden-village cottages of 1918 to 1920, Neasden’s railway workers’ semis of 1925 and 1926, and the mock-Tudor houses of Sudbury Court from the late 1920s and early 1930s. Around Wembley Park, the Metropolitan Railway’s own estate company sold plots from 1921, and by 1939 most of the area was covered in low-density suburban housing. The British Empire Exhibition of the 1920s sped things up: season ticket sales at Wembley Park and nearby Metropolitan stations rose by more than 700 per cent between 1921 and 1928.
Article 4 is widespread here
Brent Council has 22 conservation areas, and most carry Article 4 directions that remove some permitted development rights. Those with directions include Queen’s Park, Mapesbury, Brondesbury, Kilburn, North Kilburn, South Kilburn, Kensal Green, Barn Hill, Buck Lane, Homestead Park, Northwick Circle, Roe Green Village, St Andrews, Sudbury Cottages, Sudbury Court and Wembley High Street, with parts of Mount Stewart and Neasden Village also covered. Harlesden, Willesden Green, Lawns Court and Paddington Cemetery are conservation areas without one.
In practice, if you own a house in one of these areas, check with Brent Council before you change windows or doors. If you live in a flat, note that flats have no householder permitted development rights, and you will usually need the freeholder’s consent too. Our planning guide covers the general rules.
Products for Brent’s housing
- Victorian and Edwardian townhouses and terraces (Queen’s Park, Mapesbury, Kilburn, Harlesden): our aluminium windows give slim frames. The Reynaers SlimLine 68 is an outward-opening casement, and Cortizo and Alunet are further aluminium options.
- Interwar semis (Kingsbury, Kenton, Sudbury, Preston): UPVC windows and doors in the Selecta Advance 70 system, with a composite front door, are the usual like-for-like route.
- Kitchen extensions and garden rooms: Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors, Smart Visofold and Cortizo bifold doors, plus conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns.
We do not make timber windows or doors. Woodgrain-finish UPVC or aluminium, or a composite door, are our timber-look choices; whether they are acceptable in a conservation area is for Brent Council to decide.

What happens after you call
We book a survey and a surveyor comes from Fifield with frame samples, measures each opening and notes access to each window. You receive a written quote: aluminium windows start from £400, and the double glazing cost guide explains the main price factors. Aluminium frames are made in our workshop with lead times from 10 days, then our installers fit, seal and tidy up. The work carries a 10-year guarantee. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner and Constructionline Silver.

Frequently asked questions
Does Queen's Park have an Article 4 direction?
Yes. Brent Council lists Queen's Park among its conservation areas with an Article 4 direction, which removes some permitted development rights. Its houses mostly date from 1895 to 1905. If you own a house there, check with Brent Council before changing windows or doors, and before choosing a frame material or style.
Can I replace windows in a converted flat in Kilburn?
Yes, but flats have no householder permitted development rights, so changing windows may need planning permission from Brent Council, especially in a conservation area. You will normally need the freeholder's written consent as well. Once those are in place, we survey and fit flats in the same way as houses.
What do you recommend for a 1930s semi in Kingsbury?
For most interwar semis, our UPVC windows in the Selecta Advance 70 system are a practical like-for-like replacement, with a composite door at the front. If you want slimmer frames, consider our aluminium range. Check first if the house is in a conservation area such as Roe Green Village or Buck Lane.
How long is the drive from Fifield to Wembley?
Wembley is roughly 22 to 25 miles from our Fifield workshop by road, usually around 45 minutes to an hour depending on the A40 and North Circular. We have no local office, so the same team travels from Fifield for your survey and your installation.
How much does double glazing cost in Brent?
Our aluminium windows start from £400 per window. A full quote depends on the number of windows, sizes, opening styles, colours and glass. We give a written quote after a free home survey, and our double glazing cost guide explains what affects the total.
