Inspired Glazing supplies and installs double glazing in Waltham Forest, from the Warner terraces of Walthamstow to the 1930s streets of Chingford and Highams Park. Our aluminium windows and doors are fabricated in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and fitted by our own team; we also offer UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories. The borough is a fair drive for us, roughly 40 miles by road via the M25, usually around an hour or more, so we plan survey and installation days in advance. All visits start from Fifield, as we have no local office.

Between Epping Forest and the Lea
Waltham Forest was created in 1965 from Chingford, Walthamstow and Leyton, all formerly in Essex. Epping Forest forms its northern and eastern fringe, while the River Lea, its marshes and the reservoir chain make a green corridor down the western side. Most of the forest’s southern part was saved from building by the Epping Forest Act 1878, and its pull helped draw new housing to the streets nearby. Until the late Victorian era the area was largely rural; Leyton grew especially quickly between 1870 and 1910.
A defining feature is the Warner estates. Thomas Courtenay Warner began building on his Walthamstow land at the end of the nineteenth century, through a company set up in 1897, and later developed the Highams Estate in the 1930s. Typical Warner homes are two-storey terraces in yellow brick with red brick detailing, slate roofs and often bay windows, and many were built as two flats behind one front, a point that matters when it comes to planning.
The estates were known for the quality of their workmanship and were originally kept to a uniform paint scheme, and the Highams Park terraces carry decorative white plasterwork. When we survey one of these houses we look at how a new frame will sit against that brick and plaster detail, not just at the opening sizes.
Planning: most conservation areas have Article 4
Waltham Forest Council has 15 conservation areas: Bakers Arms, Browning Road, Chingford Green, Chingford Station Road, Forest School, Leucha Road, Leyton Town Centre, Leytonstone, Lloyd Park, Orford Road, Ropers Field, Thornhill Road, Walthamstow St James, Walthamstow Village and Woodford Green. Nine have Article 4 directions, which the council says are there to retain high-quality architectural features.
The council also points out that flats have no permitted development rights, so they are not covered by Article 4 directions; changes to a flat’s windows go through the normal planning route regardless. If you own a Warner flat, a house in Walthamstow Village or any listed building, check with Waltham Forest Council before you order. Leaseholders also need freeholder consent. See our planning guide for replacement windows.
Our products and local homes
Warner and Victorian terraces. Bay-fronted terraces in Walthamstow, Leyton and Leytonstone suit slim aluminium windows; the Reynaers SlimLine 68 casement opens outwards with narrow frames, and Cortizo and Alunet are further aluminium choices. Our UPVC windows in the Selecta Advance 70 system are the budget alternative where planning allows.
Interwar Chingford and Highams Park. Semis and terraces from the 1920s and 1930s are well suited to UPVC replacements with a composite door. Woodgrain finishes are available; we do not make timber windows or doors.
Gardens and extensions. For new rear openings we fit Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors and Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifolds, and build conservatories, orangeries and roof lanterns.
Coverage
Walthamstow, Higham Hill, Highams Park, Chingford, Leyton, Leytonstone, Cann Hall and the Bakers Arms area. We also cover Redbridge, Enfield and Hackney.
How we run a Waltham Forest job
We fix a survey date, and a surveyor drives over from Fifield with frame colours and hardware to show you, since there is no showroom outside Fifield. After measuring every opening we send a written quote. Aluminium windows start from £400; our double glazing cost guide explains the rest. Lead times start from 10 days for frames from our workshop. On fitting day our own installers remove the old frames, fit and seal the new ones and clear up, and every installation has a 10-year guarantee. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner with Constructionline Silver.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need planning permission to replace windows in a Warner flat?
Probably. Waltham Forest Council notes that flats have no permitted development rights, so changes to a flat's windows normally need planning permission whether or not the street has an Article 4 direction. As a leaseholder you may also need the freeholder's consent. Check with the council before ordering.
Which Waltham Forest conservation areas have Article 4 directions?
The council lists Article 4 directions for nine of its 15 conservation areas: Browning Road, Chingford Green, Forest School, Leytonstone, Orford Road, Ropers Field, Thornhill Road, Walthamstow Village and Woodford Green. If your home is in one of them, check with Waltham Forest Council before replacing windows or doors.
What suits a 1930s house in Highams Park?
For most interwar houses, our UPVC windows in the Selecta Advance 70 system give a practical like-for-like replacement, with a composite front door. If you would rather have slimmer frames, our aluminium range includes the Reynaers SlimLine 68 casement. We bring samples to your free survey.
How far is Waltham Forest from your base?
We are based at Fifield, near Windsor, and that is our only site. Walthamstow is roughly 40 miles away by road, usually around an hour or more depending on the M25 and North Circular, so we plan surveys and installation days in advance around the journey.
Do you offer a guarantee on windows and doors?
Yes. Our installations come with a 10-year guarantee. We make the aluminium frames in our own Fifield workshop and fit them with our own team. We are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner and hold Constructionline Silver, and we can bring samples to your survey.
