Double Glazing in Warwick: Windows, Doors and Conservatories

If you are pricing double glazing in Warwick, Inspired Glazing can survey, make and fit aluminium windows and doors, UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories for your home. We fabricate our aluminium frames in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, and our own fitters install them. That is roughly 80 miles from Warwick by road, usually around an hour and a half via the M40, so we fix survey and fitting dates well ahead and plan each trip around the journey.

A town rebuilt after 1694

Warwick’s centre looks the way it does because of one day. The Great Fire of 5 September 1694 destroyed 460 buildings, and the town was rebuilt in a confident Georgian style, with architects such as Francis Smith and William and David Hiorne shaping streets like Jury Street and Northgate Street. Medieval timber-framed houses survive mainly at the edges of the old centre, around Mill Street, West Street and Bridge End.

Outside the core the picture changes. Coten End, Emscote Road and the streets around Cape Road, Victoria Street and Edward Street are lined with mid-Victorian and Edwardian villas and terraces. Woodloes Park, The Cape, Packmores and Forbes fill out the north and west, Warwick Gates arrived in the late 1990s, and Chase Meadow beside the racecourse and Myton Green to the south are among the newest estates.

Warwick’s conservation area and who decides

Warwick District Council handles planning for the town. Its Warwick Conservation Area is divided into fifteen character areas, from Bridge End to the Cape Road terraces, and the council also publishes guidance for the Hampton Street and Racecourse areas. The council’s own guide notes that plastic frames have replaced original metal windows at Bridge End, and that Cape Road has scope to reinstate original windows, which tells you where its officers are looking.

In nearby Sherbourne the council has made an Article 4 direction, which removes some permitted development rights. Listed buildings need listed building consent, and flats have no householder permitted development rights at all, so a block will need planning permission and the freeholder’s agreement. Before you order, check with Warwick District Council. Our guide to planning permission for replacement windows explains what to ask.

Local government in Warwickshire is changing: the government has confirmed that Warwick District and Stratford-on-Avon will combine into a new South Warwickshire Council, with the change expected to be complete on 1 April 2028. Until then, Warwick District Council remains the planning authority.

Matching the frame to the house

We also design conservatories, orangeries, porches and roof lanterns, and supply secondary glazing, which can help on a listed house where the original windows have to stay. Garage doors, fascias, soffits, guttering, blinds and shutters complete the list.

Where we work around Warwick

We cover the whole town, including Emscote, Myton, Bridge End and Woodloes Park, along with Whitnash, Bishop’s Tachbrook and Sherbourne. Nearby, see our pages for double glazing in Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and Stratford-upon-Avon.

From first call to fitted frames

After you get in touch, we book a survey on a day when our surveyor is already heading up the M40. They measure every opening, look at the reveals and sills, and bring frame samples and colour charts. Your written quote follows; aluminium windows start from £400, and our double glazing cost guide explains what moves the total. Aluminium frames are built in Fifield with lead times from 10 days, then our own team travels up on an agreed date to remove the old frames, fit and seal the new ones and clear the waste. Every installation carries a 10-year guarantee, and we are a listed Reynaers at Home installer partner with Constructionline Silver.

Frequently asked questions

Is replacing windows in Warwick's conservation area allowed?

Often yes, but it depends on the house. Listed buildings need listed building consent, flats need planning permission, and an Article 4 direction removes permitted development rights where one applies, as it does in Sherbourne. Warwick District Council's guidance pays close attention to original windows in areas such as Bridge End and Cape Road, so check with the council before ordering.

How far do you travel to reach Warwick?

Our only base is our workshop and office at Coningsby Farm, Fifield, near Windsor. Warwick is roughly 80 miles away by road, usually around an hour and a half on the M40. We bring samples to your home and agree survey and installation dates in advance so the travel never delays your job.

Can you fit windows that look right on a Georgian house in Warwick?

For unlisted Georgian and Victorian houses, slim aluminium casements such as the Reynaers SlimLine 68 keep frames narrow and glass areas generous. We do not make timber windows, so if a listed building needs like-for-like timber we will tell you honestly, and secondary glazing may be a better way to improve comfort.

What do aluminium windows cost for a Warwick home?

Our aluminium windows start from £400 each. The final price depends on size, opening style, glass and colour, and how many windows you replace at once. After a free survey we give you a written, itemised quote, and our double glazing cost guide explains the main factors before we visit.

Who will handle planning in Warwick after 2028?

The government has confirmed a new South Warwickshire Council covering the Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon districts, with the change expected to be complete on 1 April 2028. Until then, Warwick District Council deals with planning applications and conservation area questions, so that is who to ask today.
