Double glazing in Poole from Inspired Glazing means aluminium windows and doors made in our own workshop at Fifield, near Windsor, together with UPVC windows, composite doors and conservatories, all fitted by our own team. Poole is the furthest of our Dorset areas: roughly 90 miles by road and usually close to two hours’ drive. We have no local office, so surveys and installations are planned in advance around the journey.

Merchant houses, Victorian suburbs and harbourside homes
Poole grew rich on the Newfoundland trade in the early 18th century, and merchants replaced medieval buildings in the Old Town with Georgian mansions and terraces. The town then expanded in waves, taking in Hamworthy, Longfleet and Parkstone in 1836, Branksome in 1905 and Canford Magna in 1931. After the war, large areas of slum housing were cleared and replaced with council homes, and many older Old Town buildings were lost in the process.
Housing stock roughly doubled between 1961 and 2004, much of it driven by people moving in, many to retire. Branksome Park was built up around the turn of the 20th century, when wealthy families spilled over from Bournemouth onto the heathland. Creekmoor is a family neighbourhood edged by Upton Heath, Broadstone has its own conservation area around the Ridgeway, and Sandbanks, Lilliput and Evening Hill have some of the highest house prices anywhere, looking across the harbour.
Living beside Europe’s largest natural harbour
Poole Harbour shapes the town. It is protected as an SSSI, Special Protection Area and Ramsar site, and remaining heathland fragments to the north are also Special Protection Areas. For window buyers the practical point is exposure: homes on Sandbanks, Evening Hill and the Canford Cliffs clifftop face wind and salt from the water. At survey we check each elevation and recommend frame finishes and hardware suited to that setting. Low-lying ground around Holes Bay and the harbour edge is worth checking on the Environment Agency flood map, as it can affect threshold details on new doors.
Matching our products to Poole’s streets
Harbour-view and contemporary homes suit large glazed openings. Our Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors and Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifold doors open a living space to a terrace or garden.
Older villas in Parkstone and Branksome Park can take slim aluminium windows such as the outward-opening Reynaers SlimLine 68 casement, or Cortizo and Alunet ranges.
Post-war and later family homes across Hamworthy, Oakdale and Creekmoor are well served by UPVC windows and doors in the Selecta Advance 70 system, including woodgrain finishes.
For front doors, a composite door gives the look of painted timber. We do not make timber windows or doors. We also build conservatories, orangeries, porches and roof lanterns, and fit secondary glazing, fascias, soffits and guttering.
Poole’s conservation areas
Planning in Poole has been handled by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council since 2019. The Poole area has fifteen conservation areas, among them the Town Centre Heritage area, Ashley Cross, Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs Village and Penn Hill, Branksome Park and Chine Gardens, Evening Hill, Canford Magna and Ridgeway and Broadstone Park. If your home falls inside one, is listed or is a flat, check with BCP Council before ordering. Flats have no householder permitted development rights, so permission and freeholder consent may both be needed. Our page on planning permission for replacement windows covers the common questions.
Poole Town Council, a new parish-level body, was created on 1 April 2026. Planning applications still go to BCP Council rather than the town council, so if you are unsure whether your windows or doors need consent, BCP Council remains the place to ask.

Frequently asked questions
How far do you travel to reach Poole?
Our workshop and office are at Fifield, near Windsor, roughly 90 miles from Poole by road. The drive usually takes close to two hours. Because of that, we plan surveys and installation days well in advance and group the work so our own fitters can complete each job properly without rushing.
Do I need planning permission for new windows on Sandbanks?
Sandbanks is a conservation area, so it is worth checking first. Many houses in conservation areas can still replace windows under permitted development if the change is similar in appearance, but flats, listed buildings and homes with extra restrictions need consent. BCP Council is the planning authority, so check with BCP Council before ordering.
What doors work best for a harbour-view room?
For wide views, our Reynaers ConceptPatio 130 sliding doors keep large glass panes and slim sightlines, and the panels slide past each other without taking up terrace space. If you want the whole opening clear, Smart Visofold or Cortizo bifold doors fold back to one side. We advise at survey based on the opening and exposure.
Do you replace windows in Poole flats?
Yes, where the consents are in place. Flats do not have householder permitted development rights, so planning permission may be required, and leaseholders normally need written consent from the freeholder or management company. If the block is in a conservation area, check with BCP Council. We can supply drawings and specifications to support your applications.
What guarantee do I get on windows fitted in Poole?
Our installations carry a 10-year guarantee, wherever you are in our area. Because we make our aluminium frames in our own Fifield workshop and fit with our own team, there is one company responsible for both the product and the installation, which keeps things simple if you ever need us to come back.
